WABC and WOR ratings

Overall there doesn't seem to be much difference in how both stations were preforming. Has Rush and Sean helped WOR and I wonder how Curtis and Kuby are doing against Rush and how Hannity is doing opposite Savage? Rush has also moved to lower power signals in LA and San Francisco, and the ratings for those stations hardly moved.

airing younger talkers like Andy Dean or others won't help WOR or WABC.
younger people don't listen to AM radio & older listeners are dying off.
and forget about WNYM. Its not a factor.

We only see the 6+ numbers but the Fan and ESPN moved to FM in the last few years and I have not see any large jump in their numbers since going to FM.

IMHO: New York cares more about the "content" rather than the band .

Hard to draw any conclusions from 12+ numbers since they're not the ones most effected by the programming. Perhaps over the long term, we'll see more pronounced changes between the numbers, especially when baseball season begins.

You don't need younger talkers ... you need smarter, more original talkers. Dean has neither a unique personality nor much of a sense of humor. He just recites the same talking points as hundreds of other generic talk show hosts around the country.

The bean-counters that run these operations are fixated on numbers so, if Dean is 30-something and, say, Ron Kuby is 50-something, and you want to attract 30-somethings, you don't put on the bright guy who really knows how to entertain ... you pick the dull guy because the numbers match.

Not to mention the bias of ownership and PDs.

Try being a talented centrist, moderate or liberal and getting a talk radio gig.

Talk radio is more interested in ideological uniformity than entertainment.

Nevermind that the great local stations in the format's early days, even when Rush started making it big, had libertarians, liberals, and conservatives who ENTERTAINED and created caller interest. Now it's non stop talking points.

younger & middle age listeners generally don't like Talk radio. That's why the format will be gone from most stations in the future.
only Salem radio may keep airing Talk with low ratings.

Nothing in the NY Times about Gambling going to WNYM.
maybe they never heard of WNYM.
The Times did mention John retiring from WOR.
