WABC drops Mancow

I really enjoyed Mancow's Sunday night show. Should have extended his time, the show had lots of energy.

Secondly... NOBODY enjoys Mancow! Did you ever hear his voice?

I was under the impression Mancow's WABC show was an ISDN job. Guess New York has finally been cured of "Mancow disease," as those promos used to say...

Only listened a couple of times but show sounded like bad college radio!

I don't listen to a Howard Stern type show. Mancow doesn't belong to WABC, but the show continues in syndication, except he is still doing mornings on many stations including WGNY's HD2 channel known as "Fox Drive FX" which is a dance station that Tony Santiego is looking forward to.

Mancow barely fits radio. It's like a screaming/hurling top 40 jock mixed with elements of a talk show. Not listenable, especially for a TSL format like talk and WABC.

Lots of top 40 guys have taken the elements of moving a show along, tease and break and keeping 'em tuned in and have been HUGE successes in the world of talk radio. First to mind is one Mr. Jeff Christie... who changed his on air name to be his real one. Rush or something like that... Then there's some Glenn Beck guy. Or even Mr. Stern was a music jock at one time, though not top 40.

Mancow, however, isn't in that group.

I believe Don Geronimo would qualify for that list, as well.

I suppose Mancow is sort of like Todd Schnitt in Tampa, who hosts a nationally-syndicated conservative-leaning program ("Schnitt Show") based at WFLA-AM, but in the morning, he's "MJ Kell" on sister CHR station WFLZ-FM.

Yes, WLS-AM DID have Mancow on their weekday lineup, but it was a separate two-hour WLS-only show that was done right after the conclusion of the syndicated program. (Recall how, when Rush first aired in New York, he hosted a two-hour WABC-only show, and then the two-hour syndicated show that WABC didn't air in favor of existing ABC Radio product.)

That happened until they could clear Rush for that timeslot. Then they added the 3rd hour.
There was talk about the 4th hour. It ended up being internet-only and sporatic.

That was some form of AC/Gold with a sprinkle of Top 40 at best. It was quite possibly the worst mix of music ever put on the radio, and the worst fit for the Howard Stern show.

But he wasn't a screamin' pukin' top 40 jock either, though he does do an awesome parody of that!

Mancow is just grating to listen to, always has been.

That was hardly cutting edge Top 40, even when it was new. That was 97.1 WYNY fare.
