WABC GOES OLDIES ON SATURDAY NIGHTS!!!

From the WABC website:

WABC Brings Back Oldies!

77WABC, the station that invented Oldies Radio, is bringing it back on Saturday nights. WABC airs "Saturday Night Oldies" with Mark Simone from 6-10pm, as we turn back the hands of time. Listen to the hit songs, the old jingles and sound clips that made WABC the most listened to radio station in the world! WABC Program Director, Phil Boyce, said "WABC is the station you grew up with, and now we are bringing a little of your youth back to the WABC of today."

Do you realize this is DALLAS board?

Oh, ofcourse you did.
Thanks for the update on a station over 1,000 miles away!
______________

MY GOODNESS!

Such anger Chris!

Might I imagine that you're just having a bad day or are you really another of the many disgruntled people in this world, and our industry in particular, whose arrogance and conceitedness permiate everything they touch? Perhaps this is the part of our industry that turns people aways from it and us, the BAD ATTITUDE persons who denegrate it for those of us who respect one another, enjoy what we do, thrive on it actually, and find the positive in its evolution.

Now...to answer your pointed question.
Yes, actually, I did realize this was the DALLAS board. The update on a station 1000 miles away is a station that was the most listened to Top 40 station in American in its heyday and revered by many from our industry in all markets of the country. Since they also stream live audio, it might have also been an alert to the many who might possibly be interested in hearing musicradio on 77 WABC again on Saturday nights.

Go kick the cat or something Chris.

Obviously, Chris the "listener" hasn't caught up on legendary radio from the past. The stations where the jocks and the listeners were actually having FUN. Some of the others that followed on the heels of WABC were KHJ/Los Angeles, WLS/Chicago, WFIL/Philadelphia, WQAM/Miami, and more, but the absolute KING and Grandaddy of 'em all was 77WABC/New York. It's great that we'll be able to listen on the stream. Check it out Chris. You might learn something. If you listen and DON'T learn something, you might as well leave your radio on the Bone, because that's all you'll deserve.

UNBELIEVABLE

YOU PEOPLE ARE DISGUSTING!!!!!

All I hear about on radio-info.com is how the new Satelite feeds and Internet feeds are killing radio today. And now, you kids are up here making fun of me (and calling me the angry one) for complaining that a YANKEE would come down here and tell us to listen to his station. And throughout that thread, you just praise Internet and Satelite radio, all in an attempt to bash your fellow REAL RADIO listener (of maybe not FELLOW listener, because apperently you've got caught up in the new murderous craze too.)

Well, when yall's proffesion goes to hell because idiots like you are listening to stations 1500 miles away just so you can hear oldies (which we have the best of on KLUV anyway), don't cry to me.

And don't contradict yourself.

I'm not going to go kick the cat... I'm goint to go THROW UP at how sick you people make me.

And NO, I was not having a bad day. Atleast not until you insane monkeys screwed it up!!

Thanks making me rant.

And Thanks even more for KILLING RADIO!!
______________

You should have taken up your "issue" of someone posting what you felt was an irrelevant post on this board with the moderator, not bash the poster.

You're the one who's crying here.

Afterwards you should sign up for some much needed anger management classes. You're acting like Russ Martin here. Oh wait, you ARE Russ. Go figure

That's funny! You give creditt o a bunch of faceless words on a screen for your feelings. Do you get this sentimental over reading the newspaper?

We didn't make you do anything, it was your choice and yours alone.

ChrisTheListener.... Obviously you are not in tune with the history of broadcasting, or you would realize that WABC has long been the standard in Top-40 radio prior to May 10, 1982... and talk radio since then. WABC is also a trendsetter, AND the sister station to WBAP which could easily follow suit with what they are doing if it was a raging success. So yes, something a thousand miles away give or take could touch the heartstrings of those here, and possibly impact the Dallas market in the future.

And really dude... if a bunch of disgusting, insane monkeys such as ourselves can screw up your day that badly, there are a number of mental health professionals in the area who would be happy to take your case.

And do you really think that any Yankee who has the privilege of being on 77WABC needs Radio-Info's help in attracting listeners? You should realize that in Dallas, KAAM is on the same 770 frequency, so unless we listen online to this historic occasion, we're not going to be able to pick it up anyway.

Anything else I can do to point out how out of touch you our with this business, and are there anymore reasons I can point out that you really ought to stay away from this board unless you have something competent to say?

Don't come crying to us when your position over at the 7-11 gets eliminated due to cost cutting measures in the convenience store business. We certainly won't come crying to you when our business "goes to hell" as you predict. We didn't need your uninformed opinion anyway....

GETTING BACK ON POINT...

Don't a lot of stations do some sort of a Saturday Night Oldies Show?

If that were to happen, it would be the last chance for Dallas listeners to hear a Hi-Fi blow torch AM station playing music in C-Quam stereo. I'd want to get some air checks of THAT.

In fact, since WBAP will go IBOC one of these days, it would be cool for them to play music for a few hours one last time (a Saturday night would be good) before they flip the digital switch.

Damn you are hilarious! "Yankees"??? There are many from the south, west, North, and Mid America here who have heard of WABC and its legendary status. KLUV is NOT a great oldies station due to its very short playlist, aand the same old oldies, because they "researched better..sic, when they should go back and look at the charts from the 60's and 70's plus 80's. KXEZ in Farmersville, though on the Jones Network has a far better selection.
Nobody's crying to you.you just don't appreciate radio fully with its history. Go To Reel Radio repository and listen to the airchecks and get an education of what REAL RADIO was like, then come back and groan.

Try a primal scream or two. It's cheap, you don't need a therapist, and you can do it in the forest where no one can hear you.

I would love to 'LS here in the Chicago market do some type of oldies show. However, now that their sister FM--WZZN--is oldies, I don't know if we will here oldies on the AM side.

Ahhhhh--Landecker, Biondi, Art Roberts, and all the others on the
B-I-I-I-I-G 89. Now THAT was radio to an extent that today's listeners unfortunately will never know.
