I know, Phil's going to go scrub his computer out with soap.
Not only did I hear Curtis Sliwa on WABC last night in place of Laura Ingraham ... but good commentary on the political scene as well.
On top of that, I note on another board a substantial thread on the same topic and how good a move this was ... and, especially now during primary season, how important this will be ... at least during "newsworthy" primary/election dates coming up. Not every one is important to the immediate market area, for sure, but the subtantive ones are, especially now.
I commend Phil Boyce for doing the "bright" thing on this.
If Curtis Sliwa isn't "sellable" over a half-day delayed rehash of old news ... and a local at that ... something's wrong. He did a great job and I hope after the "once in awhile's" after primary season, he might be considered for this shift, if not before. Quite impressive than the 5 a.m. wasteland he's in now.
Now, I will bring this up, as a regular listener ... is there a reason that Laura isn't mentioned in the legal ID that Johnny Donovan does? It includes all the stars (except Coast-to-Coast) and Laura, which, to me, stands out a bit. I don't mind ... but agree with others that Curtis Sliwa in that slot would be great.
Also, I hope people jump on "the trade publication to remain nameless" for their stance on the Bob Grant fiasco. Sean Hannity, coast-to-coast said it best in playing Al Sharpton's racist, bigotted comments one after the other after the publication decided to "take back" a lifetime achievement honor deserved by one of the pioneers and icons of talk radio ... Bob Grant. We don't even get him where I am ... but I listen on WABC. All this while having Sharpton as a keynote speaker at a March convention.
I've let the trade publication know my feelings and hope you do, as well. This isn't fair to Mr. Grant. The bit from Hannity was among the best I've heard him do, as was the one after with Obama's pastoral representative (that got nowhere, but Sean made his points, well.)
Mr. Boyce ... my sincere thanks -- plus ... the stock's up a dime. Life is good.
Oh, and canning Imus' duck was a good move in the ID, too, despite his displeasure. The duck was fun for a month ... but enough for now, imho.
Keep up the good work.
Regards from CA.
