sad really, and to think they could have given it one last program on the real station and gave it a graceful exit.
Hi folks. Allow me to chime in on this programming change with WABC Rewound. While the folks at WABC have decided to not do Rewound on 770, due to what they may feel would be in the best interests of their current Talk Radio audience, they
ARE providing an alternative means of getting the show on the air. Sure, not hearing WABC Rewound on 770, would "not be the same". But then again, most things in life never are. People have to think with their heads and not with their emotions. Remember, WABC gains virtually no monetary value by running Rewound, just a little recognition for something that "once was". The WABC Musicradio 77 we grew up with only lasted 21 years (1961-1982). It is now 2009 and 27 years later, long after the fact. WABC Musicradio 77 is no more. 10 years of the Memorial Day celebration was a good run for WABC Rewound on 770. But "like a worn out recording.... of our favorite song" this version of WABC Rewound has come full circle.
BUT.... WABC
will provide Rewound on the HD-2 side of WPLJ (95.5) and on the Internet stream of WABC. Now, before people start squawking about this change, WABC could have said, "bye-bye and don't come back now, ya' hear"! But they
didn't. Therefore, I say let's welcome WABC Rewound on it's new home. I live in the Boston, MA area. I faithfully listen to Rewound and SNO on line. And I wouldn't miss it. Where there's life, there hope. How we, as former WABC Musicradio listeners act about this change of venue for WABC Rewound will eventually help decide if there will be any more. I hope there are. This also holds true about Saturday Night Oldies as well. So, please.... don't squawk about this change and remember this
is an opportunity to show WABC management that we do support Rewound, even if it is a HD-2/webcast and "Saturday Night Oldies". Otherwise, WABC Musicradio 77 will be nothing but a footnote of Internet history.
And having Rewound on the HD-2 of WPLJ is nothing to squawk about, either. After all, it was at one time known as WABC-FM "95 and a half", which also had some simulcast periods at night with WABC/770 during the 1960's. Let's get to it!
