I doubt if any station will pick up Curtis & Kuby. I only see Curtis alone.

That may well be, but the two of them together are better than either of them alone.

I wonder if we can see C&K back in the AM in NYC - on WFAN, possibly?

Re: WABC should get their act together

The problem was further complicated by the fact that the folks at the TV Studio apparently have the ability to feed the talent's headphones with audio other than whats coming from WABC. Lou is not in control of what happens across the street and is as frustrated as anyone, I'm sure, about the things outside of his control. As the guy at the WABC end, he is not able to control what the folks are doing to the audio on the other side of 7th Avenue or what they are feeding back to him. Yes, this is a simple procedure but only if everyone is on the same page. Sounds to me like some folks on the TV side have not understood that and have been part of the problem, not part of the solution!

in re: to bernie being in the radio studio as opposed to being in studio with imus. even when they were on msnbc, bernie would be back at wfan and imus would be at msnbc. so, nothing has changed.

Re: WABC should get their act together

Just to clear up some stuff that was said earlier on this post about salaries, no union scale in NY is not $10 an hour. It has been a long time since WABC's programing was run by NABET Engineers. I believe there are only a couple of them left there and not sure if any of them are running air boards. WABC has many non-union board ops that run programing and fills lots of slots with part time people. This is not something that you can blame on Citadel as Disney/ABC has been cutting back on NABET jurisdiction for many years. I know that NABET is involved in some pretty nasty negotiations right now for a TV contract with Disney/ABC as the want to take more from the union engineers. They don't pay a lot at WABC for board ops but I think it's more than $10 an hour, but as they say, you get what you pay for!

I am most thankful for all the good engineering data I read about in this here thread about how these broadcasts are produced. This is why this message board is so good. Where else can you read about this sort of thing with all the wonderful talent we have here? Thank goodness there are still a few skilled engineers left in the NYC market to teach us peons and geeks about how it's really done! You surely do get what you pay for and these broadcasters should be extremely happy to still have some qualified skilled labor around.

But what is going to happen when all of the skilled labor is gone? Will the IT folks be taking care of the high power broadcast transmitters? Aren't they simply like WiFi but with more power? I've heard that in some broadcasting circles there is a real worry about this!
