WABC-TV adds another 30 to morning news

The ABC flagship station is moving the start of its morning drive Eyewitness News to 4:30 am, starting on Sept. 7. Watch the promo, or read it here: http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_display/news/local-broadcast/e3iaea240932b26c233ab2e0c8f4abfd939

Of course, they'll still be behind WPIX, which has already announced (and mentioned in another thread below) they'll begin their morning news at 4:00 on Sept. 20. It now is only a matter of time before the other stations in town are doing three hours of morning news.

My thoughts exactly. It's apparently a pattern in most areas: when one station starts their morning news at an earlier time, the others eventually follow suit. Now, the big O&O's will wait and see if WPIX's 4 AM newscast will be successful enough to start following their lead.

KGO in San Francisco and KABC in LA were the first O&O's to have a 4:30am Newscast. no surprised here.

Up in Albany, WRGB is adding a half hour earlier to its newscast starting with the 4:30 AM news which it starts later today. Sadly, they dropped the "CBS Morning News" in favor of the earlier local news. You can still watch the "CBS Morning News" on WCBS (Channel 2)
