WABC website blunder.

LOL! That didn't take long... I guess the technical difficulties were too much to handle!

Probably one of those $10 an hour board ops also running the web site!

Re: WABC website blunder

Not at WABC -- their engineers are union (NABET).

The website is most likely run out of the management side if not Citadel corporate.

Nope they are not! There are like 2 or 3 NABET Engineers left at WABC and not sure any of them run a board for a show. Most of the shows are run with non-union Board Ops. The Screeners are also NABET but not the board ops.

The same seems to be true everywhere, unfortunately. Skilled labor is being replaced by relatively low paid "board ops". A real shame, considering that broadcasters once prided themselves on hiring skilled labor and making technical excellence a priority.

With this kind of bottom-line thinking going on in the industry, it's a wonder that there aren't more technical snafus more often than there actually are.

I believe the operative phrase is, you get what you pay for!
