104.9 The Beat that is.... Is this Waco's first hip hop and r&b station? Anyway, www.1049thebeatonline.com. Oh yeah, calls are KWBT FM.

I just feel like everybody should be served in every market. You can say K104 and 97.9 The Beat, but do they talk about Waco? 104.9 The Beat will do that.

What did you think about Austin losing Hot 93-3? I stopped listening to Hip Hop when Juvenile got out of the game, so I'm not the biggest hip hop fan, but I always thought of Hot 93-3 as one of the best hip hop stations in the nation, plus it has a big coverage area, you could hear it in Waco, and that may have been the reason Waco never had a hip hop station.

Hip hop...yes, it would be the first local one.
Otherwise, in the '80s, KLMT 96.7 Marlin/Waco ran either SMN's old The Touch urban AC format or the Heart & Soul R&B oldies satellite format (I think it was H&S; just not 100% positive...it was one of the two). It changed to SMN's Heat (top 40) as KRXX. It moved to 92.9 to allow 96.7 Georgetown/Austin to upgrade (now KHFI) and is now KLRK.
purpledevil said:You may be targetting Waco, but these little one-horse towns are where 104.9's signal is based and best. If they can get 104.9's signal upgraded to really penetrate Waco, then yes it should do amazing. As of now, where the signal is best suited is prime real estate for country music. Why else would KLRK be rumored to flip? The success of this flip will rest with the approval and build out of a new facility, one probably licensed elsewhere than Mexia, Texas. If that gets dismissed, put your last dollar on 104.9 running back to country in a heart "beat".

Cousin Artie said:Can't see anyone doing Alternative...not much potential there. The best candidate for alternative would be 94.5 (which has absolutely no ratings), but that'll never happen with the current ownership.
