Hi folks,

Sad news from Dr Marcus Wheatland Blvd.

Bob Sullivan, passed away Friday morning after losing a year long battle with cancer.

I didn't realize that Bob had been ill. My thoughts and prayers to the family he leaves behind.

Speaking of family, I'm actually old enough to remember when Bob Sullivan's uncle, "Francis John Pershing Sullivan"...simply known as "Sully"...used to host the afternoon "Open Forum" program. A cranky old bastard if ever there was one (this was the late 70s/early 80s), but the man had a certain charm and charisma that would keep you listening. A certain homespun kind of common sense, I suppose. I used to love listening to what he would often call his "boring commentary" at the beginning of the program.

"Sully"...and now Bob Sullivan...examples of the kinds of "real" people local talk radio could use more of.

We are poorer for thier losses.

That's sad. Although I wasn't to familiar with Bob, I do have a history with his co-worker Art Berluti who was mentioned in the article. Art gave me my first real job in Radio. Awsome guy! I'm sorry to see the WADK family have to go through such a loss. Prayers go out to all of you.

I was once part of that WADK family. I started working for the Gary Crowder, Charles Kinzer Benz, 1969 WADK. Johnny Moitoza, Bobb Angel, Francis John Pershing Sullivan, Jerry Nevins, Uncle John Paduano, Saucy Sylvia, remember Leslie Dowdell, worked through the 70's. Many years with Bob.....a great newsman, dedicated to the job, we had many laughs together over cold ones at the Turtle Frolic, on Thames Street. WADK is what local/community radio is supposed to be, they still do it right! Bob Sullivan was a huge part of that, he will be missed. WADK was the first radio job I had, I will always remember "running the controls" for the Sr. Luis Raposa show, the "Open Forum", Saucy Sylvias Sunday show, was that an air raid shelter we worked at in Middletown, Ha Ha. The move to Thames street, Peter W. Kuyper, was a cool owner, and then it was 1980 and I left the friendly confines to go west to Sacramento. My condolences to Bobs family on their loss, Bob will always be remembered in my heart, God Bless.

My thoughts and prayers go out as well to the WADK crew. I got to know Bob, however briefly. when I did contract engineering work there in 2000. Wildly knowledgeable, with a famous sense of humor. He will indeed be missed!
