WAEB-AM lineup changes

Tuesday morning, while conducting his weekly meeting with redheaded rightie John Brinson, Bobby "Gunther" Walsh dropped several bombs regarding programming changes at AM790 effective Monday, 12/28/09.

Gunther's show is being cut back to 9AM, and after over eight years on the station, Glenn Beck can finally do all three of his daily hours live on WAEB*. It sounds as though Bobby will not push his interview hour, using Republica's 1996 hit "Ready To Go" as its theme, and which was replayed in the 6PM hour, up to 8.

Meanwhile, with the interview hour gone, 'AEB apparently will drop Jim Quinn and Rose Tennant's much-delayed morning show from CCU sister WPGB and carry all three hours of Citadel's Mark Levin live 6-9pm.

Walsh then went on with Brinson about the usual stuff that peeves them both, and not much more was heard that day about the changes. WAEB.com has not posted anything regarding them either.

I was happy to notice the programming changes about 2 weeks ago. Quinn and Rose were just awful, and the worst of all the right wing neo-con blabbermouths. They're worse than Gunther and Brinson which really says something.

It's tough to question the wisdom of any of those moves. Glenn Beck has been the hottest thing in editorial media for a year now (as evidenced by his name being used by liberal politicians and commentators as a swear word alongside El Rushbo's), and Mark Levin has, rather quietly, risen to the ranks of the elite among conservative talkers.

Even if Levin sucked, though, it's asinine to replay a morning show at 6pm.

WAEB's program schedule has, for some time, looked and (I assume) sounded like a disassembled jigsaw puzzle, bereft of any continuity, philosophy, or interest in either. The Allentown market is fortunate that there's a new sheriff in town at the helm of 790.
