WAGA Fox 5 News streamed on the net

My mother lost her cable connection for a couple of days during the floods however still had DSL internet. I have had businesses in both Katrina and Rita both of which had the local TV station streaming the news over the net. I found in Atlanta that WSB-TV does not stream the news, however WAGA-TV does. What gives? Our news leader cannot afford the cost of a stream during a disaster? During hurricane Rita I watched the tiny Raycom station KPLC-TV in Lake Charles and this was back in 2005. I was just a little dumbfounded that WSB-TV has no plans to stream news coverage during a metro wide natural disaster.

CBS ATLANTA/WGCL-TV does a pretty good good at always having a live stream up as well. They stream morning, midday and 4pm newscast Monday-Friday. FOX 5 always puts up a stream during severe weather as do most "myfox" stations. I've never know CHANNEL 2 to stream newscast, ever.

I think it is a huge hole that our #1 news leader (WSB-TV) does not have a stream up during an emergency. I had a business in Lake Charles, LA during hurricane Rita and the only way I kept up with everything was the stream from the Raycom station KPLC. I also had a business in an area affected by Katrina and it was the same there... WWL-TV and radio via the internet.

I was in Alabama on Saturday and Sunday. Because of the stream from WAGA I was able to get into Atlanta Monday between the opening of the downtown connector and the closing of I-20.

11 Alive streamed their news as well.
