WAGE

WAGE is returning to the airwaves on 1190. I'm aware that the 1190 in Annapolis has been on the air intermittently -- is WAGE replacing it? Transmitting from the former WAGE site? Just curious if anyone knows the story.

Long story, but the short version is that the idiots who bought 1200/WAGE a few years ago also snagged the 1190 license from Annapolis and merged the two. Kinda. So now they have 50,000 fashionable AM watts covering a good chunk of the DC metro, sunrise to sunset at least, from booming Loudoun County. But somewhere along the way, they decided that they really didn't need no stinking Loudoun County listeners, opting instead for the hot, new radio format that is sweeping the nation: Asian News! Logic says that it's all paid programming, so Big Wage has really been turned into a low-risk, low-reward turnkey little money machine.

Sorta like a vending machine route. Or a laundromat.

Well, at least it's a living wage...

BTW, there's no truth to the rumor that the new WAGE all Chinese format will be satellite delivered to all Wal-Mart stores.
