WAGI modifies application for Charlotte

105.3 WAGI Gaffney has just filed a modification to an application which would put the transmitter on the current WBAV tower. 105.3 would have a signal pretty close to that of 101.9 with only a slight protection toward Durham's 105.1fm.

I'll probably get flamed for this but that's a shame. I like to hear local radio that serves it's home town.

So which big owner will gobble it up? It's rare to have a stand alone FM these days (yes I know there is WXRC but even they have an AM). Will it be Radio One, Jefferson Pilot, or Davidson? Have Clear Channel and CBS reached their maximum in the market?

Could this be the markets first Spanish FM? The two formats I'd like to see are both probably dark horses in this race so I'm not going to even mention them!

I don't think Jefferson-Pilot is in the buying mood. I think Clear Channel and CBS have reached their limit in the market.

I can see Radio One or hopefully Salem buying WAGI. Davidson Media Group will probably be in the running for the new 870 AM in Mount Holly.

WAGI would make a perfect acquisition for Salem, in my humble opinion. If it were my listing, I know that'd be my first call.

I pray Salem doesn't get 105.3. We have enough right wingers in the market already. Maybe whoever eventually gets the J/P stations will jump in and create a new group....

I pray someone gets it who doesn't voicetrack 3/4 of the day and actually wants to do something with it.
