Does anybody know what is going on with WAHT-AM 1560 in Clemson? It is owned by Golden Corners Broadcasting and is the sister station od WCCP-FM 104.9. Actually WAHT is the old, orginal WCCP-AM 1560 which was founder in 1969 by WRIX-AM/FM founder the late Matt Phillips. WAHT-AM was last a Carolina Beach music station from 2002-2005. It was programmed by D.J. Jazzy Jeff. When he left WCCP/WAHT in August 2005, the station briefly became automated ABC Pure Gold Oldies and then went dark a week later! It stayed dark until earlier this year! Now, it is back simucasting WCCP-FM 104.9. What are the plans for WAHT-AM? What will the new format be and when will it be back on the air? They were doing great with the Beach Format! They had 24/7 live streaming on the internet also. Why did they fire Jazzy Jeff suddenly back in 2005 and make the station dark for three years? Does anybody have any details on this? Thanks!

It was on the official FCC silent list in the Spring of 2007. It came real close to facing license revocation after being silent nearly a year. And from what I recall, I'm not sure they came back on the air at the 1 year market, but whatever.

It is probably simulcasting WCCP 104.9 as they don't want to do anything with it and don't want to put money into it.

I bet it's for lease or sale.

GoodTimesGreatOldies, why don't you make an offer to GOlden Corners broadcasting and put your money and actions where your mouth is?

It would give himsomething productive to do and keep him out of our hair. Sounds like a great fit to me.

Sounds like a great idea to me to, but you know he won't do it.

Looks like I might have some investors interested in funding me in buying a loacl station for Oldies. Put your money where your mouth is..... How deep are your pockets? WAHT-AM has rather a poor signal out of Clemson/Pendleton area. However, something could be done to make it a local moneymaker. Perhaps, naming it Tiger 1560 and making it very local with great ad rates for the Clemson Community. Put something on it that the Kids at CU would listen to. Actually, back in the 1980`s as WCCP-AM 1560, it was a classic rock outlet and had alot of local listeners. They used to do live remotes from The Tiger town Tavern! Jane Robelot once worked at this station years ago and it was the original home of the Matt and Bev show until Matt Phillips started WRIX-FM 103 in Honea Path back in 1977.........

If you have the investors and you can make it work.. all the more power to you, lets just see all this talk turned into some actual action.
