WAIT 820 goes fulltime

It's made me wonder if it already happened. Normally 820 both in Chicago and NW Indiana only heard WBAP. But over the weekend, WBAP was still strong, but another 820 has been bleeding over in both areas, mostly playing oldies. That's why I wonder if WAIT already is fulltime. As for what would go on WAIT, I believe either Air America or a possibility that the station might be sold to Starboard so they can be on 24 hours on 820.

I checked 820 a little over an hour ago right after their normal signoff, and could only get a little bit of WBAP.
There is another station in Ontario (CHAM Hamilton, I believe) that is also on 820. The last I recall, the station played Country. Once in a while the night signal makes its way into Chicagoland.

The night wattage will only be 1.5kw with the night towers between Mokena & Joliet. With that amount of power, you won't hear WAIT after Dallas's sunset. Chicago most likely won't hear WAIT at night.

This is an application only. It was accepted for filing on July 26th of this year. It has not been reviewed or approved by the FCC, something that could take some time and might result in a rejection, a refiling or approval.
Once granted, lifting permits and building could take several years. Most metro area stations putting up multiple towers spend a year at best in zoning and use permits, followed by EPA, aviation and wildlife reports.
In other words, some time in late 2007 at the earliest.

Yes they have and will still be 5kw days, and continue transmitting their daytime signal from the top of the WXRT studios in Chicago. But the possible night signal will come from the SW suburbs at only 1.5kw and the signal will be aimed north, but not toward Chicago. That's why there's an application to change the COL as well. The COL will be changed to Willow Springs once approved. As I stated before, Milwaukee won't likely hear WAIT after Dallas's sunset once they go fulltime because the signal will be too weak to overpower WBAP. NW Indiana definitely won't hear WAIT because there will be a severe null to the east as well as to the south (of course to protect WBAP) and the west.
