WAIT RADIO EARLY HISTORY

Hey Guys:

I see that WAIT was doing Popular/MOR music from 1941 to 1954 then went Beautiful Music in 54. The owner was the same guy who originally owned WXRT 101.9.

Would anybody know was WAIT 820 ever a Top 40 station in 56 and 57?

Thanks
T.J.

I don't recall WAIT ever playing Top 40.

Did Frank Sinatra sing that and was that harps that played. Anyone recall from what songs the harps came from? Any air checks of WAIT from those years?

Yes sir, WAIT was top 40. I hav 2 Platter Pulse surveys from 1956, showing disc jockeys Ed Grennan, later with WLS, Reed Farrell, Lloyd Webb, & Herb Graham. #1 was Honky Tonk and #20 was Flying Saucers by Buchanen & Goodman. Anyone wanting copies: [email protected].
