Keep Austin Weirdradioeye said:Althought Austin has the image of being a city full of young and creative liberals.... The numbers seem to show that news/talk and oldies are "ruling" the top of the latest trends. All things considered, Austin is a very diverse community.

And as for the unrated non-coms, I thought they weren't included in the book?

Nope. The non-coms are indeed rated. However, you can't get them from R&R or AllAccess. In the Spring '08 survey, KUT had a 5.3, and KMFA had a 2.2 12+.
If you think Austin should have better taste than KLBJ, it's important to keep everything in perspective. It may have the 12+ ratings lead, but conservative talk doesn't even get an 8 share in Austin when you add up the numbers of KLBJ, KJCE and WOAI. In other words, more people may be listening to KLBJ than any other single Austin station, but more than 92% of the audience is listening to something else!

It's sad that the Austin American Statesman can't reinvent itself to survive. Localism is a good thing, ask the folks at The Chronicle.
