HAS ANYONE been able to figure out how they rotate their music...assuming there is a system?

Love those soul oldies but I heard the same two back to back about 75 minutes apart last Monday night and I heard the same Isley Brothers song three times in a 24 hour period-and I rarely listen for more than 15 minutes at a time-short car trips.

I'm sure the music rotation is limited to select songs and rotate on some sort of a loop via computer automation software. This is probably why you hear certain songs in a certain order as they may not be setup for random playback.

It's probably something like WinAmp playing a continuous and randomly selected set of tracks. If the playlist is short (and I'm betting its a couple of hundred tracks at most), you'll hear the same songs repeat frequently, also with no adjacent song protections in the randomization, it's possible to have songs play much too close together, even back to back. There's a freeware tool for WinAmp called something like the "Amazing Clockwheel Scheduler" that can create a passable playlist, but someone has to run it every day.

yes on segs...i've heard them eliminate the final 'still' for lionel richie twice.drove me up the wall...hadn't heard in years.

there, of course, is SO much they could play-like anything from any of the 60's Motown acts greatest hits cd's-or hell any 60's/70's soul acts' greatest hits for that matter.

Kyle, didn't you do some work for Doug in the past? Maybe you could find out... ;)

Actually, I've never officially done anything for WYKS, but have helped out on a few minor occasions. It's been at least five years since I even talked to Doug last. I do know one or two folks that still work over there. I'll ask when I next have a chance to do so. WAJD did have an inexpensive automation system called EZ Automation (www.voicetracking.com), but I obviously don't know if they are still using it or not. It seemed to work okay, but they had it since the mid-1990s. When I was last over there, nobody really knew much about programming it anymore and it wasn't being asked to do very much of anything.
