4 years late but WAJM filed to renew its license. Will anyone file a petition to deny? Will the FCC fine WAJM? Another non-com station forgot to file and received a 7,000 fine, they were only one year late.
 
WAJM has already filed for an STA (Special Temporary Authoity) to operate,
and has filed for license renewal. The FCC will probably grant both.

Doubtful, fines come from the enforcement bureau for willful violations, such
as operating over power, no fence around an AM tower, tower lighting, etc.

This was an oversight, and they have asked for forgiveness. The FCC doesn't
fine people trying to do the right thing, even if it's late.
 
Wow. Maybe the FCC will get them for missing legal ID's or the 2-3 day periods of no audio but the transmitter on or the missed EAS tests.
 
How is the FCC supposed to know about it? They don't monitor every station
every second of the day, they act on complaints basically. I don't think anyone
is going to complain that they didn't hear a Legal ID.

By the way, many stations have a "Silence Sensor" that turns the transmitter
off after 5 minutes or so of Dead Air. I've heard NJN shut down during low
audio during programs.
 
Nonsense. The FCC fines non-coms and Commercial stations alike for these infractions. I read them nearly daily on my rbr report. One fine for being late, another for unlicensed transmissions. A simple search will turn up dozens and dozens. Intenional may bring a bigger hammer. Stupidity won't get you off the hook. Or in this case, Atlantic City and County Taxpayers who will ultimately pay up.

the reason that people are getting xm radio is because they want specialized programming like big bands from the 1920s and 1930s or smooth jazz or something not available on local radio...as far as im concerned radio in the AC area sucks...no variety not even a station playing adult standards like Sinatra,Bennett,Sammy Davis yet we have a spanish sports channel that no one even listens to..not even on the ratings...what a binch of dummies...they would get higher ratings with an adult standards format especially with all of the retirees who are transplanted from Philly,NYC,etc
 
rob...3 stations play all of those artisits and more.  1230 & 93.1 from the Wildwoods have them in their EZ mix, and 101.7 WMRH from Mainland Regional High School as well, mixed with Billie Holiday, Tex Ritter, Dinah Washington, Nat Cole etc.  Especially Sunday Mornings.  During the week, however, you'll have to sit through an eclectic mix of Lady Gagme and Eminem too.

They were fined about 6 months ago for filing late even though they hadn't even filed.
