Thats right folks! Billboard Radio Monitor has moved the station from the R&B/Hip-Hop panel to the Rhythmic Top 40 reporting panel effective October 7th.

Well we all new that was gonna happen . . . . surprised actually that they didn't make the switch sooner. I personally can't listen to JAMZ anymore . . especially with those aweful jingles.

Also this is an opportunity for Clear Channel to open up a Hip Hop & R&B station on the fm dial here in Albany, i would say if CC was to do this they should either flip 102.3 Kiss FM to Power 102.3 or flip 103.1 to Power 103.1 like they did with Jammin 105 in NYC in 2002 and after Jammin went hip hop & r&b they were and still are very successful.

Huh? This doesn't mean the station is changing/tweaking formats, it just means Billboard has changed its category. I wouldn't get so excited yet.

Except that doesn't make any sense. 102.3 is the only true Top 40 station in the market right now since Fly started playing nothing but rock. And they are doing great ratings wise for such a small signal. Look out for fly to make a move to Hot AC soon. Wouldn't be suprised!

Methinks he was kidding. There's barely room for two CHR/RHY in Albany let alone two CHR/RHY and an urban/hip hop station. Selling it would be insanely difficult. I'd speculate that WAJZ was difficult enough to sell previously and the recent addition of more rythmic tunes and more mass appeal imaging is an effort to help the sales department sell the station better (cause you know finding better sales people is always out of the question LOL)<P ID="signature">______________

Actually its the stations' format criteria that determines which panel it goes to, which is why Billboard Radio Monitor switched WAJZ's reporting status.
