Wake-Up Call

According to an article in Radio & Records said:
By Mike Boyle, NEW YORK – As part of the results of a new study by Arbitron and Edison Media Research, consumers were asked to rate the impact different digital audio platforms have on their lives. Nearly one in five (19%) consumers said radio has a big impact on their lives, placing it second only to mobile phones (35%) as the audio platform/device that has the biggest impact on the lives of users. The study, dubbed “The Infinite Dial 2007: Radio’s Digital Platforms,” was presented on Thursday morning at Arbitron’s latest ”Listen UP!” seminar, sponsored by Ronning Lipset Radio.
Satellite, iPod, streaming... the real competition to radio seems to lie in a user's cell phone. View the study at the Arbitron website. Particularly interesting, points made on the bottom of page four and the top of page five.

Corresponding to this report are advanced codecs, supporting streaming and cell phone broadcast, introduced last week at the NAB in Las Vegas and the new "agreement" regarding rights fees for music broadcast over the Internet.

Talk about intrigue.

bad news, good news ?

ALL indications show that technology will drive what consumers want.
(oh, that *IS* pretty obvious !!! )

but here, is the difference:
when i was a younger lad, i was told the "technology" was
out of control (in the 80s) and it was said PC's...and TV's, Cars, would be
JETSON-Status, as early as TEN YEARS!! while 1995, did have this internet thing explode,
( minus the annoying, H-T-T-P, then type COLON : ) haha....lol. it seems this
internet fad, is for real !! haha.

but, seriously, all things considered, every thing pretty much has
remained 'status quo' YES!!! (TV's ) are much better, but
...the bottom line, the means of the message, esp. here
in terms of radio, the sound travels from the ear piece to the ear hole!

by the time the suits, *Figure* that one out,
guys like oh say, jammin todd edwards, and dj Anthony,
will tap into the 401-k, to download music.

it is the newbies, whom i do not believe are reading this,
"since they know it all" anyways, and want to be the next...
over night sensation, wont have to worry, for that wont
be has been's; instead they a "never" was radio broadcaster.
(yea, u can lump me into that over crowded pool, lol )

funny "kids" today, that want to work into radio for
the pure joy of playing their fave 'rock' or hit "records!"
...or think, "once" they get in there, let me show you
how to run a station! i was often asked, why didnt i want
to work at 106.5, 97 rock, etc...i would settle for an
out of area, small time, 2bit operation? *by choice* !!
