Wake Up with Al ....then go back to bed

First of all ....Al Roker is a great talent and I enjoy him on the Today Show........

Wake Up with Al had its debut this morning and is a good example to taking a talent and spreading him too thin...( no pun intended)....

The first fifteen minutes suggested that either more rehearsal was needed or that Al was phoning the show in.

His interview with Buzz Aldrin was embarassing to be polite.

NBC- Universal continues to play with the Weather Channel with a dissapointing result.

I did however enjoy the "weather on the eights".

I think the promos for the show featuring other NBC personnel (Brian Williams, Jimmy Fallon et al.) is even more embarrassing than the actual show which you described above.

Don't judge the show by its first broadcast, judge it by its 50th or so.

That is, if it's still on by then -- most viewers would be there for the first show, and if they felt it was no good, would never watch again.

Bring back the weather on the Weather Channel please. NBC seems determined to wreck everything it touches...what's next there- Kathie Lee? Haven't seen the show, don't want to (Al's interviews on the Today Show are ridiculously rude and rushed..."OK, what's next? What's this? Running out of time, what's this?"), and yes the promos with "stars" like Cramer are high schoolish.

He's doing commercials with Larry Sprinkle, the weatherman that time of day on the Charlotte NBC station. Sprinkle (yes, that really is his name) is so shocked to be in the presence of his IDOL.

NBC's problem is they don't seem to care how well the broadcast channel is doing. They could rerun some shows from USA and Weather Channel if they wanted. Heck why not add Storm Stories to the NBC primetime line-up. I bet it would do well. Even move Monk to NBC. USA wouldn't really lose much by not having Monk. And with movies USA aired "Pirates of The Caribbean" first then the other day I saw Syfy air it, I doubt they would do that with another movie say Happy Gilmore air it on Syfy. Same is done with Bravo too.

NBC did run some Monk episodes (and Psych) and they didn't do well. On top of that, it's a bit late to think about moving the originals exclusively to NBC as it's been announced the upcoming season is Monk's last.

As to not caring how well they do on the broadcast network, that's a bit absurd. Whether or not they're successful in their efforts is one thing, but to suggest they don't care...let's try having a realistic conversation.

Going back several years, they (ABC) did. In the 2008-2009 season, NBC ran episodes from the most recent seasons of Monk/Psych on Sunday nights for a while.

I could be wrong, but doesn't/didn't "Storm Stories" air in syndication for awhile?

It is still in syndication -- my local CBS affiliate, WTSP, still has it Saturdays at 7:30PM.
WSB-TV/Atlanta...weeknights at 2:05 AM. I thought WXIA would get the rights because of their relationship with The Weather Channel (which predated the creation of Weather Plus).

Those are the pre-2008 "Storm Stories" episodes that are in syndication. Newly produced episodes are airing on The Weather Channel on weekends (and only on weekends...for now).

As for Al...he is a highly qualified meterologist who did local weather at WNBC/New York prior to the Today show. He cannot do in-depth weather stuff on Today, but he can on The Weather Channel.

Anyone else thought Al did a good job covering President Obama's inauguration? Just NBC trying to see how much of his talent they can use...

WABC also carries Storm Stories, along with WGNO in New Orleans, which airs it at 5pm on Saturdays. Al Roker is a overused talent, as he's on the Food Network almost every night, and now, he'll be on the Weather Channel a lot.

All the promos I've seen plug 6am ET, with no mention of 3am PT.
Of course, if you were on at 3am I doubt you'd mention it either.

However, the WX Channel's program schedule page also has the
show at 10am ET (7am PT). Is this a second live hour, or does
it replay Al's non-topical bits from 6-7am ET, with Stephanie
(who is on all five hours 6-11am ET) doing live updates?
