WAKE UP WSPA

i laughed when i heard happy holidays from magic 98.9 jingle tonight during the john tesh show. if you work at entercom it was at 9:25. check your automation log. since it is on a computer it has probably been playing since last christmas. employees must not listen to the station.

I would think that is in a "rotation" of liners/jingles in the system to play during that show. IMO, someone should have checked it since Christmas to see what was in there. Didn't they get a new PD a few months ago? He didn't look around and check things since he took control? The Tesh weekend replay on Saturdays from 6-9am hasn't ended until about 9:15am for ages, and the sad thing is somebody live's on right after it usually.

Not that they are anything close to perfect, but they are a little better than their competition who has had their share of issues also, especially recently, as discussed elsewhere.

Just goes to show that all of these stations are depending on computers to run things and don't even bother having a human even occasionally check behind them. Computers aren't perfect.

Hey, Labor Day is coming up in a couple of weeks. THAT's a holiday! :)

WOW!...sounds like the programmers @ WSPA-FM have fallen asleep @ the automation wheel!
So, is WSPA-AM still on the air?
I gather the FM is totally automated?

I worked for WSPA-AM-FM-TV for abt a year 1979-80 as PD. tried to take the FM to an AOR format...but the owner (Walter Brown) wasnt having any of that.

WSPA (FM) used to sound much better. They've gone downhill with the current program director IMO (save for Christmas, but they've always been good with that). They have cut back on 70s too much and haven't made up for it in other areas. You need more 70s if you're going to be trad. AC. FM has live staff during the day.

WSPA-AM at 950 became news/talk WORD-AM some time ago and moved to 910. WSPA-AM is no longer existent, 910 is now Spanish.

It's what you get when they put the CHR PD in charge of the AC.
Agreed.

Would love to know the strategy behind whacking the 70s. That is still about the best decade for the AC format to be playing.
