I'm enjoying Kasper's "return" to WAKS as well, although I do hope they find someone who can entertain just as well that's actually sitting in the studio in Independence. (Why doesn't Q102/Philly stream anymore, by the way?)

I don't know, J Nice and Silly Jilly were both just okay. Not really blown away by either one.

I too am loving the return of the Kasper Radio Program on 96.5

I say that until they find someone worthy, they do stick with Kasper when they aren't auditioning. J Nice 'wasn't bad' and I definately don't want to hear Silly Jilly every night.

And please, when you do find someone Kiss.....put Kasper on Saturday afternoons or something.....especially since Q102 isn't streaming anymore!!

I think Kasper is incredible.

However..

Didn't he have like a goodbye show when he went to Philly? How did he randomly pop back on the station?

I listened to Jnice for a bit last night (he's filling in?) and he sounds pretty green. "Yo what up girl live in the crib" radio. Why does it seem every single jock is the same? He sounds very urban, too. Too urban?

I'm assuming he's tracked and the tracks just aren't segued perfectly.. but if he isn't tracked.. he runs a very sloppy show because I heard some stompage, being buried, etc.

I listened to some of Silly Jilly when she auditioned and I thought she sounded solid. Why don't you want to hear her every night?

Step into Dan Mason's shoes for a moment:

You're forced to let Jet Black go... You need a slammin' night jock to, at the very least, fill in... You lost a highly rated afternoon show, done by one of your most visible and well-liked jocks, to a bigger market... Instead of taking a chance on a part-timer filling the slot (and no offense intended to any of WAKS' part-timers, btw, just laying it out as it is), why not bring that jock back to your station? Not only do you bring back a show that was getting solid ratings, but you have the option of making a big deal out of it and getting the audience talking about the return of one of their favorite DJs, perhaps bringing back some audience that you may or may not have lost when he left..

Make sense now? Seems like a smart move to me!<P ID="signature">______________

No, but seriously.. what you're saying makes sense, but I just wondered if it doesn't sound dumb that Kasper was promoted from nights to afternoons and then, I'm sure, had a farewell show since he was pretty much a household name in the market.. and then he randomly appears back on nights.

Perhaps listeners don't notice completely, but at least a good portion must think "Hmmm.. this is odd"?

Still wondering what the future of the slot will be. VT'd Kasper forever? Best of Casanova? Jilly Silly? J-Neezy? Or is there some other option? Has anyone else auditioned or filled in?

The blurb I remember on All Access about it was that Kasper is just filling in from Philly while they search for a night jock, so it's temporary.

Auditioning should continue. Both Silly Jilly and J Nice were pretty newbie-sounding; neither sounded ready for nights in Market #25. Both should shoot for gigs somewhere a bit smaller so they can really get their game down. (yes, I'm aware they both do weekends in Top 10 markets, but they still need some work)
