WAKW-FM 93.3 in Cincinnati

I have a chance often to listen to Christian MOR WAKW-FM 93.3 in Cincinnati, Ohio. This station is definitely one-of-a-kind. Their programming crosses all lines, whether it is age, gender, racial, political or denominational. Their programming consists of a mixture preaching, news, talk and a variety of music. Their music log is interesting, containing a heavy rotation of artists from Nicole Noredeman to Mary Mary, from Matthew West to Donnie McClurkin and from the Inspirational Classics to the CCM Hits of today. On Sunday nights, they have a 5 hour music show that focuses on Christian rock and rap. Also, they carry a variety of ministry programming from guys like Steve Brown, Tony Evans and Ken Ham. The programming seems to be focused on sound doctrine at all times. Plus, the jocks are professional and seem to have a sense of peace as they speak. WAKW is even greater since they are now live-streaming at wakw.com. I am not aware of any other Christian station that has adapted to this type of programming. Detroit's WMUZ-FM 103.5, which carries block programming throughout the day, may be the closest. However, WAKW-FM seems to carry the wide variety mix during most dayparts. It seems they are committed to healing the divisions and bringing everyone to sound doctrine. With WAKW-FM successful history as a non-commercial Christian station in Cincinnati, it seems that this style of programming is not only working but it is needed. I defintely appreciate the work taken place at WAKW-FM. Hopefully, more Chistian stations will adapt to this type of programming.
Edited by The RadioFan on 11/06/05 02:48 AM.

Lets have a station with no focus, no target audience, no consistancy. Thro it all together in a pot. Bingo! Another reason why christan stations like this one suck so hard. Lets play everything under the sun, whenever we want, and confuse our listenrs as to weather we are music, preaching, teaching, or kids station.

Brilliant!

They must be doing something right. They have been on the air for years and manage to break even. Plus, they are not ranked in the bottom half in the ratings, not to mention they have one of the better signals in Cincinnati. Somebody is listening, enjoying and supporting the station.
Edited by The RadioFan on 11/28/05 11:22 PM.
