WAKX is Festival 102.7?????

I saw an ad for some show over the weekend in one of those free monthly publications restaurants have out. I forgot the publication & the show, but there was a notation that it's on 1320 The Drive & WAKX. I thought The Drive was all sports & WAKX (the 102.7 frequency Citadel spun off with KKB to Davidson Media Group) was Portugese.Turns out when you go to The Drive's website: http://www.1320thedrive.com/there's a blurb about it being simulcast on Festival 102.7, which has no website. Anyway, Davidson's website shows the station as Portugese, but I listened today & it's jazz. I didn't hear any sports simulcast on the 2 times I listened in briefly.I don't see the connection between The Drive (Sporting News Radio) & Davidson, but I thought I'd mention it as there was some talk on here around the time of the sale about how much of an audience they could hope to reach with a Portugese format serving the area they do. I did hear one local spot for some car rental place on Post Road, but no live people.Anyone know the connection? It gets curiouser & curiouser, especially since Davidson programs primarily Ethnic & religious formats.

Re: WAKX is Festival 102.7????? Yes it is.

On the sports angle of this, 102.7 FM was airing some Providence Bruins games this past season, via a phone line. I'm assuming they took the air signal from WARL through the phone. It sounded horrible, but it was different to listen to P-Bruins play-by-play on FM. I think WAKX only aired Friday games. P-Bruins games were supposed to have aired on the Roger Williams University station also, but I never heard P-Bruins games on 88.3 FM. Also, some games were to air on WBLQ in Westerly, but I was never sure which WBLQ they were talking about...they advertised the games to have aired on 88.1, but WBLQ of course moved to 96.9, then 96.7 FM. I am unsure if any P-Bruins away/road games were on radio this year. I know they did play-by-play of all games in recent years (when the games were on 550 AM).

WAKX was Portugese as 102.7 Radio Festival. They flipped to Jazz several months ago. (I'm not sure when I'll see if my friend who works at Davidson's station in Hartford knows when they flipped). As for Davidson's website, it still lists their Hartford station as Spanish AC. They flipped from Spanish/AC to Spanish/Tropical in July 2005. Then they flipped from Spanish Tropical to English Language Talk in October 2005.Could it be a Boxing Show? Last summer there was a Boxing Show that was airing on AM 1510 Sporting News Radio WWZN in Boston, 1320 The Drive WARL in Providence, and POWER 990 WXCT in Hartford. The Boxing show was the only English language show on POWER 990, but more times then not POWER 990 was running dead air when the Boxing Show was supposed to be on.
