Wal-Mart vs. Howard Stern

I was listening to HOWARD 100 the other day at my local Wal-Mart. The store didn't have a block on his channel. Ya think the folks will order all their stores to put a block on ch 100 & ch 101?

Well if they want to sell radios then they WON'T put a block on the channel. Do you know how many Radios they will sell when people hear Howard? A LOT!

I can see the lawsuits coming. A 10 year old kid punches up Howard 100 in a Wal-Mart store. Parents sue the store because kid hears some dirty words.

My local Wal-mart stores are already selling fewer Sirius units, but upping the number of XM units in their stores. One of the newer Sirius models isn't offered at any local Wal-mart, but is offered at Target, Circuit City, & Best Buy stores. My local Kmart doesn't sell either services' units. I think Wal-mart is more interested in selling XM than Sirius. Based on what's available at my local Wal-mart stores for Sirius & XM, they stock up more on XM, but dwindling the supply of Sirius units. BTW, there are 3 Wal-mart stores in my area (Hammond & Schererville Indiana & a Wal-mart Supercenter in Hobart Indiana).

I think someone on these boards posted a few months ago that Wal-Mart was going to be XM exclusive. In my local Wal-Mart yesterday they had some Sirius receivers on clearence, so maybe it might be true? I picked up a couple for gifts at a really good price.

That's what I'm noticing to at 3 local Wal-mart stores in my area. I got a Sanyo model for $60 on clearance. The selection at the Hammond & Schererville Indiana Wal-mart's & Hobart Indiana Wal-mart Supercenter only have 3 models available, but plenty of XM models to choose from. I don't remember the model off-hand, but I want to say it's the X-Act Visor, that only has one line to view everything, including menu options. The other was another X-Act model that has the vehicle kit included and the home kit in a separate package, then the last is a model that has both the home & car kits in one package. I can't think of the beand name model off-hand, but it's around $70 at my local Wal-mart stores. If I thought XM was better programmed, I would go with it, but I like Sirius' channels better, except for not having a separate 90's channel & a separate Hot AC channel, like XM. I however won't complain too much as Sirius has Chill, and XM doesn't.

As a Wal_Mart employee, I can only say whats going on at my particular store. If we have an exclusive deal with XM,it definitely doesn't look it-we recently got in the Xact Visor unit for Sirius and a brand new display set for both XM and Sirius, showing the different units. Lastly, the only ones my store has on clearance (as well as other stores here in the Vegas area) are all XM units, the less than $70 price on the Xact unit you mentioned is a "Rollback" price, not a clearance price-it could stay that way permanently, or it could go back up to its previous price, or it could drop...On a side note, although not Sirius related directly, we just lowered the price on the XM Roady2 unit to less than $30.

it is based on what sirius is offering wal mart to sell..xm is offering more than sirius..roady 2 is now 29.99...myfi coming soon under 200.00...WAY under...

Actually, XM's price drop on the Roady2's is across the board, if you go over to XM's site, they also ahve it at $29.99... So it isn't only Wal-Mart on that...

On a side note, i went in one of the locals tores here in the Vegas area and they had NO Sirius units or equipment for sale, in fact, the only one they offered was the Xact Visor unit, and they were sold out right now... At my store, we have alot more than just the Visor, we have the boomboxes and the other Xact units. on the flip side, though, a couple of the XM items are on Clearance, including the Headphone set compatible with the Roady2 unit.
