I find that hilarious. What time is it? Are you sure you arn't picking up another station on the same frequency? God.. I hope not. It wouln't be nearly as funny then.

It's been the strangest, weirdest, most God-awful mish-mash of music you could possibly imagine!! It's like the station's been on one very very looooong acid trip...LOL...LOL.

All jockless...with no promos...no spots...no legal ID's....no NOTHING !!!

They're probably literally playing anything and everything they can get thier hands on. I've heard everything from Black Gospel....Big Band tunes.....Rock....Lite Jazz....TV Show theme songs.....you name it....I've even heard the religious song "The Ave Maria"....TWICE.

I think the "format" right now is DON'T GO DARK!...LOL...LOL...LOL.

Oh.....before I forget....."MissAM" was right. For several hours today...1320's carrier WAS up...but with NO PROGRAMMING...
 
Oh that's funny. I just turned it on. They are playing "Drive" by the Cars..... (unless this is another station on the same frequency.) I can't tell. The signal sounds like crap at night. Now I think I hear Bruce Springsteen. This might be the station from Canada. Does the stream still work? I'll put that on instead. Ok..... it's on.......

What the F is going on over there. First off, if their volume meter goes up to 10, they've got the thing on 20 right now. Holy cow. No wonder it's all distorted. Are they drunk? Now they are playing Legs by ZZ Top. I'm actually enjoying the music selection. To bad they are trying to blow out peoples speakers. I have headphones on right now. If they bust my ear drum I'll sue. I guess I have to stay tuned to hear the bad stuff. I won't send this post until the next song comes on. I'm waiting for them to play something funny............ ........................................................

OK.... now they are playing an old 50's blues song. It sounds like an Imus bumper. Great... now I can't tune away. I feel like the train wreck has begun again. I'll stay here until the next song. It's currently 1:13 AM. That's not really important, but I just have nothing to do while I sit here waiting for the next song. So I'm typing nonsense. ............ .. ..............................

Allright. . Now George Harrison is playing "Here comes the Sun" Live at a club. This is some musical selection. No Rhyme or reason for any of it... is there? lol

Ok Now they are playing some slow Frank Sinatra type music. This is where I go to sleep. I think this might be the last gasp for WALE before the electric company switches the power off tomorrow. Good Luck to all

Things are unchanged as of about 1:30 this afternoon. Hmmmm......Wonder if the electric company is on the list of bounced checks? If so....the "on-air funeral" could get rudely interrupted!!...LOL...LOL
 
It wouldn't surprise me if the entire station is being run by someone's iPod set to shuffle and repeat. At least it gives us something to talk about in this otherwise boring market.

That's kind of what it sounded like the other night. Did they at least fix the levels yet?
 
Its spanish now, spanish dj and all, and BLEARING!!! Someone should set fire to the studio and put it out of its misery.

Yeah and then if the wind blows the wrong way the fire spreads to Asian restaurant across the street. What did the Asian restaurant do to deserve to burn down?

Anyway the I just checked the stream. They're still in Espanol and the programming is local programming for 990 The WALE not syndicated stuff. I don't speak Spanish but I heard them mention Nueve Noventa and I know that's Spanish for Nine Ninety.

It REALLY says something about how bland and boring this market has become when the hottest topic on this board for weeks has been about the goings-on of a rundown dilapidated AM station with two towers ready to do a suicide run anytime soon!

MarcB... that's really odd about the least listened to stations being the most discussed on boards. WHY do you think that is?

This happens on the Boston board to some extent too. There's more talk about stations I've never heard of in my life. Maybe it's because they're oddities. Of course the lack of any effort on the part of the major players in the market could be part of it. No one sounds bad although both B101 and Coast are basically useless but everyone just goes through the motions.

It's really quite simple actually - lower power stations with smaller coverage areas are more likely to make format changes (and make them more often) than larger stations with a stable listener base. That's why stations with no listeners that you may have not heard of end up getting discussed more here on the radio boards.

OR......In the case of the station this thread is named for...Because the place has been SO chronically dysfunctional for over 20 years....everything from technical facilities....Ownership....Management.....Programming.....The whole 9......or is it 990....yards!!!

In short....the place is a radio version of a tragic accident by the side of the highway....and those of us who have a voyeuristic streak......can't help but stare.......LOL...LOL...LOL.
 
I hate to admit to the voyeuristic streak, but I have to confess I check them out every so often just to hear what if anything is being broadcast. Yesterday morning I heard the theme from Gilligan's Island, which was appropo.
