Let me repeat that, WALE is off the air.If it returns it will be a jazz format.Not ran by Steve Conti either.
Where are you people getting this information? That it is going talk with Big Ange and Arlene Violet.
With all due respect to Craig and Erlene Rapoza.You would have to be an idiot if you were going to invest a major buck in that station. It needs hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the station up to the standards you are talking about.

Too much money.
That comming from someone on the inside........

WC would you like to come to the next meeting at WALE. They are looking for fill in talent. My advice to you is watch out for the Margaretha Zelle type. You never know who you're talking to.

I believe the old saying goes don't believe what you hear only what you see. In your case don't believe what you're told only what you'll be hearing on 990 soon.

I wont mention who you are here Frankie but your vision of WALE becoming what you want is only going to turn into a nightmare. Unless you are going to be able to bring in at minimum 25,000 to 30,0000 a month probably more. This is not going to happen. 10,000 to 12,000 of that would just have to go to the light company to keep it on the air.About 500.00 a month for a dedicated line from the studio to the transmitter.The caller lines.You need all brand new eqiupment.Board,phone system,a mic,proccessing.The transmitter sight looks worse than than the cave they found Saddam Hussain in.
The only reasonable thing for WALE is to get permision to move the the transmitter if not build a new a new one and move it to North or East Providence at a reduced power on one or two towers. That is is the only shot the station has.

I really hope Arlene Violet doesnt invest in this money pit.

My response to frankie NY's categorizing us as bitter people: We're realists. Most have been in the broadcasting business for a long while. I've seen photos of the current state of the transmitter site...a mess.Again, if you want to bring back 990, there are things that should be done first long before the place goes on the air. Other people have said much the same here. It all adds up to a salesman buying too much into his own hype.

first of all the pirate man failed doesnt have engineers license i pray hes not working on clear channels transmitters in violation also tony farr with three or four screen names in this formun and dave gardiner who got lost in a phone booth all think they know but what they dont know is top enginneers from hartford conn. are working round the clock to bring a signal that will be non directional and increasing the nighttime pattern. also heard rumors that Big Ange better known to his close friends as the airboss is going to do something by rotating personality shifts. also they have plans to give a car away every month, plus thousands of dollars in giveaways and listen to this a special jazz show on weekends........

overheard from a high level meeting WALE planning to move its studios to the old WSNE studios. Hi tec... state of the art equipment. Moving date in June... Format sounds like a mixed bag with Tommy Isuzu, the famous Billy Goodman, the unpredictable Dave Kane, the mulitiple talented Laura Sebastion<shes from Iowa> and Big Ange with others soon to be announced.

Nothing is going on at 990.
It would take the F.B.I. to get the truth here.

Big Ange,Billy Goodman and whoever else that is hanging around the WALE building can attend as many meetings as they want and talk about new eqiupment,a new office etc.Bottom line is WALE "The Patriot" is not happining.
As for new euipment in that building.The only new eqipment from my understanding is a new computer and a few other things DAVIDSON bought for WKKB.
Craig Raposa did not buy anything for WKKB and is NOT buying new eqipment for WALE.
WAKX's studio is now nothing because WRNI has control of 102.7.The equpment in that room will be gone soon if its not already.
 
I wonder what will happen to WAKX's equipment, actually. Obviously it would depend on the quality of the used gear, and what Rhode Island Public Radio's long term plans are, but I can't believe they'd just toss the stuff. Unless the studio gear isn't part of the purchase price, of course.
