WALE Spanish Days/English Night

The Hispanic community steps up and supports their own very nicely. Soon there will be lots more Spanish stations... time to take Spanish classes!

Another format change? Great. How many weeks will this one last. I've never seen a station with such a lack of direction before. Maybe this will be the summer a giant hurricane hits those towers. Then we can finally be done with this.

Sky:

You're being waaaaaay too optimistic on this one.

Remember...THIS is the Providence market. With our rotten luck, those leaning towers will be the only things to survive the eventual nuclear holocost. ;D

LOL... yeah now that you mention it maybe WALE is the BEST station in town to get a job at. It seems that nothing will ever kill it. A positive thinking person would say that means JOB SECURITY! ;D

Our 990 here in Connecticut (WXCT) has sucked for 3 years and 3 months. Wouldn't you know that the tornado that skirted the town of Southington (their COL) last Wenesday didn't hit the Plantsville section of Southington where 990's studio/tower is. And I say skirted the town of Southington because 1). By time it actually reached Southington it lost its tornadic characteristics and 2) only a very small portion of town was affected by it.

If this place was run even halfway right, they could do something and get an audience, along with some market share. But I don't see that happening with the present ownership/management.

Dave:

With 100.3 and 1110 to grab the lion's share of the Spanish-speaking audience, not to mention the low-power FM on 96.5......I just don't see where there's anybody left over to even bother listening to 990.

Just sayin'......

No 990 in Mass. Reason WALE was heard in Worcester....pattern out of whack. It's probably not protecting 990 in Winnipeg as it was designed to do in 1960 as WLKW.

Dave:

If 990 can be heard in Worcester due to the whacked-out pattern, then they can't be offering much protection for either 980 in Lowell, or 1000 in Fitchburg.

Dighton:

Probably not. But since they're not running 50 kW during the day, it's probably a moot point.
