When the WALE call was assigned to 1400 over in Fall River
it had a pretty grand history of public service and
community activism. Then the brothers Sisson sold it to
Milt Mittler and the decline began. Now it's in the hands
of the same folks who own WSAR. They changed the call
letters and shifted the programming to Portuguese language.
It was a sad day when WALE left Fall River. But even more
sad when it got stuck on the technical travesty that had
been WLKW-990 and has gotten progressively worse under a
long litany of what are, at best, temporary owners.
Until the next bankruptcy. But, count on it, then it'll get
even worse.
