WALI back on air

WALI 93.7 in Walterboro is back on the air. I just noticed them today. They have a nice-sounding Hot AC format "90s, 2K and Today" format. Badly-needed format for that area. They are run by former 96 Wave and Channel 2 personality Miles Crosby. It sounds like they have a lot of advertisers, as I heard a couple of local commercials today. The signal sounds better too, as I was getting them in West Ashley without much of a problem, something that didn't happen with the old owner.

Here is an article about it from the Colletonian from earlier this year.

Clemson football has been on the station all year, along with NASCAR races and some Braves games earlier in the fall. They also had Colleton County High School football this year. They look to be doing well.

WALI's local programming for its i93.7 format ended about 3 months ago, as it was running satellite delivered AC. Now, Apex/Alpha, who owns 92.5, 101.7, and others in Charleston, is moving the signal to Beaufort.

WALI has switched to the adult hits format which is on 99.1 and 106.5 simulcast from Hilton Head, as they have an 11kw transmitter near Hunting Island. This signal is going to serve Beaufort, Hilton Head, and the SW part of Charleston County.
