WALK AM 1370 Jack Ellsworth

Is Jack Ellsworth still doing his 10am to noon show? I looked at the latest ratings posted and do not find WALK AM listed. I started listening to his show about 10 years ago when I found out I could get the stations RF signal from Virginia Beach during the day. Since then a sports station in Baltimore switched to 1370 and covers up WALK AM most of the time. Last time I checked WALK AM stopped streaming. Jacks show was great (using the term "was" since I can't listen to WALK AM now) since he knew many of the 1940s and 1950s artist and had unusual personal stories. It was like travelling through a time tunnel. A real taste of what personality radio was like a few decades ago. He must be something to be in radio over half a century. Unfortunately good radio is hard to find listed in the ratings.

Jack has been doing radio on Long Island for 58 years. A true legend, he gave Ingram his first job at WALK around 1955/56.

Jack was also the first to interview Sinatra after he left the Dorsey band back at WHIM in Rhode Island. Sinatra never forgot it and when Jack purchased WLIM with George Drake in 1981, Sinatra customized liners for him and his new station.

Jack was also the first PD for WGSM and then the first PD in the history of WALK.

Mr. Ellsworth gave me a letter of recommendation way back in the day. To this day I'm not sure if it was to get me out of his hair. I do know that it is one of my most treasured memories. That letter actually opened some doors for me. When my father was alive, he had his radio glued to WALK AM and later on to WLIM. Glad to see that Clear Channel still considers him a valuable asset after all these years.
