WALK should bring back After Hours

Glenn Hollis. Maria Garcia. WALK may not have them anymore, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have a dedication program in the evenings. With Elizabeth Yates canned by WEBE if I were Rob Miller or Patrick Shea I would approach her and ask her to come aboard.

I liked Maria, but disagree on Glenn. If you must go off the bird, Delilah is more interesting, & John Tesh (though not exactly a dedication show host) is much more listenable than either. Elizabeth Yates would fit, but how about bringing back "WALK Pillow Talk" instead, with a name known for it, like Mary Perez or Jay Letterman?

All this would be under the assumption that stations are willing to spend money for talent... which I don't believe, unfortunately.

Well they can't do John Tesch because he's being broadcast by chief rival KJOY, and Delilah is being run just accross the pond in nearby Connecticut on Star 99.9. As for money well they must be willing to toss some money around. I imagine top-drawer talent like Mark Daniels and KT Mills who have been with the station for years cost a pretty penny.

Why would they want to? To do a real request show, that would mean paying someone to be there. When you have so many other signals doing this type of programming in the area (LTW, KJY, WEBE, LVG, EZN, HUD), they are the only AC not doing it. Also, with CC about to dump WALK, that's an issue for the next owner.

Let's play cheap, the radio game.

WG, your argument would make sense except that they're already paying Al Lewis to pull evenings. Since they're already paying, they should return Lewis to the overnight and bring someone in to play love songs in the evening and take phone calls. From what I understand After Hours was a popular program, and to completely abandon romantic love songs just because Maria Garcia left is unfortunate.

You sure Lewis is not tracked? I haven't listened closely, but when you hear someone on a 7-12 shift nowadays, you automatically think tracked. From what I know, he's got more work there now that Miller is at KTU. May or may not be true.

Honestly I don't know, but it strikes me as unlikely. A couple weeks ago mid-day host Scott Miller went on vacation for a full week, and Lewis subbed for him in the midday while overnight host Patrick Shea subbed for Lewis on the evening shift. If Lewis were voicetracked in the evenings it strikes me at least that it wouldn't matter to have him run a double shift.
