Waller and A Possible Additional Station?

An item in this morning's Longview newspaper Answer Line mentioned information that Waller may be "considering" another station in the East Texas area. The information was in response to "what happeened to country music on 103.1?" The response alluded to the discontinued simulcast of 103.1 and The Ranch in Tyler, but added that Waller sources indicated the "possible return of classic country" to "an additional station in the area." No further comment if the additional station could be one picked up on an LMA, or if Waller may be considering an outright buyout of an additional property somewhere in the vicinity. This mention is at least the second instance in which the Waller people have brought up this same possibility, so it may be a case of "more of the same" to avoid putting out any definitive information for the time being.

That's certainly true. He went from owning a single AM outlet in Jacksonville in the 50s to a highly profitable broadcast group covering a sizable area of East Texas in the new mellinium.

He should try to expand into Mnt Pleasant ,Sulphur Springs. He could do better than that bunch. Especially with their KBUS on computer in Paris and the MIx station,or he could take over the station in Malakoff (and its series of FCC issues, and make them viable. Lastly there is "The Ranch"in Kerens he should make an offer for since they don't have a clue how to run things either.
