WALR-FM Moving Closer to Atlanta

All of the move-ins have problems near the Richland site.

Yes I am bombarded with FM overload on any radio I use. But hey, radio sucks in this town so I generally do not listen anyway. If any of these morons running these station's they would bring back yes, I am going to say it, OLDIES.

If all of the people who want it would simply pool their beer money, they could buy a station and play doo wop and Beach Boys til the cows come home.

But instead, you want someone else to pay for it.

And how do you suppose that the owner of and oldies station would pay the bills?

Well like they do in Chicago, LA, NY , SF, etc etc. Quit bullshiitng the prepose that oldies will not sell. Hell I am a hippie from the 60s, went to Woodstock. Their is not a MTFing station in this town that caters to my demo, and I am a multimillionaire that has a lot more buying power than the demos these nerd PDs want to go after.. Twinks do not listen to 99x, or Star94, Q100. Look around when you are driving and you see them walking on the side walk. They are NOT listening to products on the FM dial.

They're not doing "oldies" in those markets. They're doing classic hits, mostly 80s-90s.

If you have so much money, buy a station. Lets see how you pay for it. I'm tired of all these rich boomers wanting other people to pay for their music.

Big A already told you that the pop gold-based stations in those markets are now predominantly 80's with some 70's, and not "oldies" but "classic hits".

Hell I am a hippie from the 60s, went to Woodstock.

Meaning you are likely around 70. There is essentially no advertising money available for the geezer demos.

Their is not a MTFing station in this town that caters to my demo,

So polite!

and I am a multimillionaire that has a lot more buying power than the demos these nerd PDs want to go after..

Modest, too.

Those "nerd PDs" are going after audiences that advertisers wish to reach. You and your contemporaries are not in any of those groups.

So if "they" have different tastes than you, you have to demean and stereotype them?

We're going to build an Oldies station and make the teenagers pay for it!

The oldest music you're going to hear on a commercial radio station is going to be classic rock. This will be the ONLY place where you hear music from the 1960s, and it will consist mostly of the Beatles, Stones, Doors, and Hendrix.

Any "oldies" station will be playing variety hits, centered on the 1970s or (more likely) the 80s or 90s.

Pre-1970s pop is dead on terrestrial radio.

And only later Beatles or Stones. Maybe once an hour. For some reason, the demo for this is better balanced than oldies.
