Walt Maciborski left 11Alive last night

Walt Maciborski had his last newscast with 11Alive on Sunday 9/25/05 at 11 pm. He seems to be a top notch anchor and reporter. They said he was going to Tampa to be the primary anchor and not have to work weekends anymore as he did on 11alive. Does anyone know which station he is headed to? Also, what do you think about him? Who will replace him?

He was not just a good reporter and anchor, but one of the best (and funniest) I have seen in years. WXIA apparently did not renew his contract back at the beginning of summer. I was hoping he would stay here in Atlanta, but I guess that is the nature of the business.

I wish him only the best of luck in all of his future endevors. I will sorely miss him.

I haven't seen him (I no longer live in the Atlanta market)
and can't comment on him as a journalist. I looked on the
websites of a couple of Tampa stations and came up empty,
but I'm guessing he may go to CBS affiliate WTSP/10, which,
like 11Alive, is owned by Gannett. But that's just a guess.
If I see something definite I'll try to post.

The weekend news on 11 was always the best on that station - Walt was a big part of that. The weekday news was a little too s t u f f y (imho).

He's at WFTS in St. Pete.

I really wonder if moving to the 4th ranked station in Tampa Bay to anchor the 5pm newshour is really an improvement over weekends in Atlanta. Unless he figures he will get the better weather and put up with a loss in prestige.

It's the age-old theory of being a little fish in a big pond, or a big fish in a little pond. I guess Walt likes the little pond!

Good for him, though. I'm sure he'll do great things. <P ID="signature">______________
