I am sure like most of you I spent the better part of Friday night surfing the three cable news channels watching the coverage of the passing of Walter. I was wondering if any of you have stories you would like to share on this news legend.

I met Walter in Washington in 1970. He paid a visit to WTOP which was once a CBS O & O, to pay a visit to my boss Jim Snyder who was Vice President of news for Post/Newsweek stations at the time. Jim was once one of Walters producers in New York. Both leaned to the left.. way left!!!!

My earliest memory of Cronkite was his anchoring the coverage of the Kennedy asassanation
I was only five years old at the time,bu I could still remember my father glued to the tv set in our living watching CBS news for
most of that dreadful weekend.

I was lucky to meet and talk to Walter about 12 years ago. It's great to meet a living broadcasting legend. He was very nice and took time to chat with little old me. I will always cherish that moment. Another great I met is Gary Ownes "Laugh In" and many cartoons and national voice overs. Also a very, very nice man and no ego at all. We even had some mutual friends.
