I've heard some people say Walton and Johnson will be doing mornings on 97.1 in Jan 2008

Opinions anybody?
 
Toss the whole station into the airlock if that happends, those guys are ratings cancer, worse than John And Jeff/Lex And Terry Combined.

Well this is Clear Channel that we're talking about. The same company that pays Lex and Terry. So I definitely wont be shocked if this actually happens. I don't see the Eagle being what it was.

yes..he oversaw them when they were at KLOL. W&J are now on AM for CC on the all-news channel that has been reformated as MOJO 950. I can't see Vince bringing those guys along since nobody in Houston listens to them and they got dumped and wound up on AM.

maybe he will bring Rod Ryan?

It has been noted in several Houston threads that the powers at CC Houston have a financial interest in a side deal to sydicate W&J, so this all makes sense in DFW. They've done a marvelous job in destrying one of Houston's AM legends (KPRC 950). They are down to about 6 listeners, all male. How do you get a job destroying stations? Not a lot of pressure I guess.

Hell they were carrying that last jack-hole frequency and now they're the only sellable point of the MOJO and hearing the amount of sponsors that they have, they seem to sell QUITE WELL.

I've heard from people around town that this board is nothing but idiot amature jocks and angry engineers. And you keep proving them right.

You have NO awareness of ratings and no idea what your audience wants. Because the writing on the wall is that they WANT this show.

Their ratings on the new station are doing nothing but cruising upward.

Quit you're bitching and get over it.

I worked with them in New Orleans. The show seemed to do well, but came off a lot like Stevens & Pruett.

If that formula works in Dallas, then I imagine they're not a bad choice.

Not the nicest guys I've ever met.
 
The difference between W&J and other shock jocks (S&P and Howard Stern) is others are funny, W&J are not. I was a big S&P fan and I think Stern is brilliance in broadcasting. Those guys' bits were hysterically funny, even when it was juvenille and barnyard. W&J are obnoxious without the humor and that's just bad radio. If it's true about some backdoor sydication deal between W&J and some CC executives benefitting them then there's your reason they are being sydicated in places. Granted, their lack of talent is just MY opinion, I think I am pretty wise in my evaluation and have the proof of success with many clients over the years. If they are so strong then why has KPRC in Houston now rated in the 20's (persons 12+) and falling fast? W&J's show runs 6-8 hours a day in multiple dayparts. HMMMMMM.
 
Walton and Johnson are probably the only jocks to benefit from crappy radio. No competition. They do very well in Baton Rouge, but it is due to a lack of competition.It is also due to the fact that they are politically conservative and that works well in Baton Rouge. I think Steve(Johnson) is an amazing talent, though. Some may say the characters are lame, but his ability to switch back and forth, respond with the right character, and keep track of everything that has been said is pretty impressive.

So is this Walton or is it Johnson?

I have no feelings either way on these guys. I seldom listened when they were on KTKS in the 80s, and never listened to them on The Bone. I just think it's funny how damage control comes out of the woodwork when you least expect it. All the months W&J were taken to task on this board, and no defending responses. Then one new comment from our Houston pal, and the board lights up with a brand-new post'er who is the FIRST and ONLY person who has EVER defended W&J on the DFW board. Seems a little strange, huh?

I've heard firsthand how the word spreads to the "real" movers and shakers who are taken to task on here: RING---RING---"Hello?" "Have you read that stupid Radio-Info board yet today?" "What, what did those a**holes put on there today?" "They said your show sucks and that the ratings are pathetic." "Those f*ckers...always saying sh*t...I'll get on there and fix their little a**es. I just hope those morons who are about to syndicate me aren't reading this crap. Who wrote it?" "The one who calls himself '******.' I just KNOW that's *** **** that used to work for me at ******, that stupid f*cker. What the h*ll has HE done in the last 10 years? Such a f*ckin' wannabe. If he f*cks up this deal for me, I'm going to kick his f*ckin' a**."

But no matter what names we get called here, you know someone's onto something if damage control shows up. It may not be on the mark, but there must be something to it...and you can bet that W&J have already sent a package to KEGL.

Yep. You and I know personally know how some react,
don't we? I love "damage control" . It's amazing to me
how an internet forum and some of our little piddly
opinions and comments can truly have an influence on
some things. Who would've thunk? Now everybody....
