Walton & Johnson

Crd... income levels? As in their listeners make more money? I know it's not in revenue to the station. KIOL doesn't even make enough money to cover the electric bill. Speak to any salesperson over there. Ratings equal dollars.. and they don't have any. Don't go off the diary version of Arbitron. They were not great in those and they're not much more than a blip on PPM. I don't really care either way, but if we want to keep things accurate, I am all about it.

Since it won't let me edit my last post... I will add this. Just went and double checked the PPM numbers (wanted to make sure I wasn't full of it). In men 18+, Rod is ranked 3rd and W&J are tied for 9th. Rod doubles their numbers.

Industry pays millions of dollars to learn that little tidbit?

WALTON&JOHNSON THE RADIO GODS ARE ALWAYS TO BE SPELLED WITH CAPITULS FOR THE RESPECT THEY ARE OWED.
The ratings are crooked. Like Walton says-----wieghted diaries screw them outta ratings to prop up minoritys.
if all there stations were smart they would replay the show round the clock.

W&J DONT NEED WHINEY OTHER JOCKS THAT SPIN RECORDS. IF THE STATIONS THEY WORKED AT WOULD PLAY THE SHOW ALL THE TIME, RATINGS WOULD GO WAY UP! THEY DONT NEED DRUNK SALESMEN THAT CANT LISTEN TO ORDERS.
All HOUSTON should be proud that they are putting a Texas show into LA and MISS.
They speak the voice of truth that commies and the minoritys invading this country dont like to hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyones that complains about W&J IS JEOLOUS CAUSE WALTON AND JOHNSON ARE RICH AND FAMOUS AND BELOVED, AND GET MORE TAIL THAN A DOG!!!

JEOLOUS NOBODYS JUST DREDGE UP CRAP ABOUT THEM! KIOL HAS NOTHIN WITHOUT THE TRUE GAWDS. EVEN STEVENS AND PRUETT COULD LEARN A LOT FROM THESE GUYS!

I mean really... what needs to be said after a post like that one?

The Ratings for both shows are nothing special. You want to see great ratings for Rock formats, check Krenn & Baumann at WDVE/Pittsburgh. And for the poster who said W&J were better than Stevens and Pruett, that they could learn something from them... put down the pipe and get some help. You need to check S&P's ratings back in the day. Walton & Johnson have never even seen those kind of numbers. Besides what the hell do W&J do for the local Houston community?! I don't ever hear about them being out and about anywhere?! Any charity work?! Remotes?! Contests?! Anything?! W&J are exactly as they appear... a nothing radio show, on a no ratings station, owned by a do-nothing company that doesn't care about this market or most markets they are in.

HA HA HA Just read the vitriol from "Rex Tremendae" - he ripped that name off from Walton (he's talked about it on the show as his literary nom de plume). I love it when people say they hate a show, but listen all the time for the intricacies.

KIOL needs to fire w&j! Defenders of the war and big oil!

Well, I'm sure anything he would write would appeal to the illiterate. ???
Since he boasts about how smart he is, he should've chosen a different name instead of the other ones he's used while posting here the last few years.

Do some research, he could no more own the name Rex Tremendae, then I could take credit for the music of Mozart.

Ha! I was going to respond to some contrary posts, but no need! ;) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

So laugheth Rex.

If both sides of the Walton and Johnson fence would stop for one minute please. You are making the very point for People Meter. Either you love them or hate them. There will be no accidental rating offerings with PPM and then we will see the true power of the device. The name of the game is mass appeal. With all of the challenges the station has anyway, if you hate W&J, it will show (shoot, the device won't be abe to pick up a signal that just isn't there for g. sake). Who cares anyway. Dave E Crockett who I think is a terrific jock and person, Tubby too..both get let go? Nothing makes sense to me anymore.

Dave E is still the schedule for KHits Weekends... just not weeknights anymore.

Kevin, I dreamed I died and no one had a funeral. They didnt even notice. hahaha.

(except for a couple of old ladies and a mental patient or two) ...

"You're nobody, except for a number." Well thats not exactly true. "You're a name on "Karen"s little chart."

Anyway, I have narrowed the choices, and decided that making actual money, feeding my family, fishing, and watching my sports teams are more attractive than reading cards, working weekends, talking to amorous old ladies, and sweating 17 hours every year for an entire day in May for no pay. I have also decided that I will always be "Ella" and never ever "Memorex" again, as a matter of personal integrity. There's no point in being in the communications business if I cant simply talk to people, and so from now on, I refuse to read any cards hyping useless and redundant sayings which no one except for a couple of morons in Atlanta care about. From now on, my name will only be associated with winning organizations. (except in sports---) This is presuming that somehow I acquire a name, which I havent.

Which is reason #2 there wont be a funeral. Reason #1 is that no one died. I'll still be breathing at Christmas.... which is more than we can say for some large, incompetent businesses.

This should pretty well tell you what you'll be doing schedule-wise. Hang in there brother.

Thanks for the note.... I sent you a personal message in response....so read and call me sometime.

Nothing makes sense anymore? C'mon, jocks being canned for seemingly no reason - or even all the wrong reasons - is as old as radio. I heard this was a budget move.

And on that note - terrestrial radio as a business model has issues that selective (or even massive) budget cutting won't fix. First it was the 8-track, then cassettes, CD's, and now i-Pods and program "podcasting". Sat radio is taking its' slice of the money pie and listenership, in-car TV's are now available and growing in use, and it's only a matter of time before we'll all have internet-ready cars, coast to coast WiFi (ok, except for Utah and Wyoming), and an infinite supply of radio stations covering every format in every language from every corner of the globe. Once that happens, we'll melt down the sticks for scrap.

That will be a good day for radio. Imagine, all you wannabe programmers will finally get your chance on a level playing field against the suits.

May the best playlist win.

But it will put all others out of work; sales folks, engineers, promotions, tower climbers, etc...SAD day for radio in my book

The talk (no pun intended) is 950 KPRC. I find that amusing... apparently Clear Channel only sucks when you get fired... but they're ok when they re-hire you.

I'm just saying..... but the information is pretty accurate.. we shall see.
