WAMi 102.3 FM In Opp Is Moving

I'm now going to assume that WYVC in Camden will have to move to 93.9, because of this. From what I've read, Opp Broadcasting did petition the FCC to allot 93.9, for the sole purpose of moving WYVC in Camden to that spot. Will that move be granted, now that WAMI is upgrading? Inquiring minds want to know.

P.S. Once WYVC does move, will they have to decrease their power or will they stay at their current 6000 watts? Will they continue to broadcast in Mono, when they move? Just curious.
 
An interestng change--the new 102.3 would cover Andalusia, Greenville, and Luverne with nothing less than a strong, near-city grade signal, covering a lot of communities and traffic south of Montgomery on I-65.

I believe WAMI wanted to upgrade its facilities during WYVC's limbo status as a legal broadcaster. Now that WYVC is legal again, everything for the bigger 102.3 hinges on a new channel being assigned for Camden by the FCC. I believe the CP states that Opp Broadcasting can't begin testing until the new WYVC (if granted) is operational. It'd make sense for WAMI to throw whatever aid is possible toward Down Home Broadcasting in Camden.

WAMI-FM isn't going anywhere. The CP mentioned was applied for, in the name of Opp Broadcasting, by certain individuals not affiliated with Opp Broadcasting, but were running the station at the time under an LMA. They wanted to move the station. That deal fell through quite some time ago for a variety of reasons. I was told by management The Board Of Directors of Opp Broadcasting would sell the station if the right offer came along, but as for any upgrade, that would be for any potential new owners to undertake. I personally offered a couple of upgrade suggestions while doing some contract work for them last year (upping power to 6kw from their current 3.4kw at the existing transmitter site or a move slightly north of their current location for a C3 or a C2 with no COL change). They were not interested.

There are some very nice people at WAMI. I wish them well.

To any potential buyers: keep the focus on Opp, Andalusia and Enterprise as a full A or C3.
