WAMS back on the air Wednesday

1260 WAMS was back playing Scott Shannon's Oldies Channel again yesterday. They aired the "In His Grip" broadcast, etc. What gives? Did the station get sold?

I just tossed my mp3, xm satellite, and my whole broadband computer automation system in the can because of that..........yes... BABY I'm BACK! To listen to the great satellite delivered oldies programming on a station I can barely pick up ahnnnnn 1260 WAMS on your AM dial. Wow! Whew! I wonder if they take request.

This will happen every three months when they pay the electric bill. Once its paid, Delmarva Power will generally give you three more months of non-payment before they shut you off again.

Modern, small town, AM radio. Gotta love it.

Radioeng: get a freakin' grip. Your threats are dumbfounded. Now since I responded to you, are you gonna sue me too? ::) Maybe WTUX did say something that's the truth, and you can't handle it. Get over it.

Why should Mike "roll tape" on a station that is in turmoil, doesn't know what they are doing from one minute to the next, says they are sold, shuts down, then reappears out of the blue with Oldies again, from a satellite service. It's not like you have live, in-studio, local jocks on the air. Do you even have a studio, or is the satellite being aired through a computer at the transmitter? Can you people make up your minds on what you're going to do? If you can't, I just suggest you surrender the license and give up totally.

I guess the bigger question, in response to Radioeng500's comment to roll tape is, do you know what the format the new owners are planning to air? Apparently, it won't be an Oldies station.

Obviously, you are involved in some way with 1260 WAMS, possibly even the present owner, who's selling the station. I'm sorry it didn't work out as you planned. I enjoyed the oldies you presented, both via your inhouse collection on computer and the Scott Shannon version.

It would appear from numerous posts, by WTUX and a few others on this board, where they have stated that making a small AM station like 1260 profitable is almost impossible today. Hopefully the new owner will have better success.

I guess when 1260 finally changes hands and formats, I'll have to settle for WVLT for Oldies even though their jocks aren't as a professional sounding as WOGL's, they play a far better variety of Oldies than WOGL.

Vince Klepac has told someone I know that the "sale" of the station involves nothing more than him buying out the remaining 49% (?) share of his prior partner.

That could very well be true as the other two people wanted to sell but Vince didn't....
