WAMS OLDIES Jocks

I sometimes catch WAMS online when I think of it. I love the jingle package that they are using. It reminds me of when I was a kid listening to 56 WFIL in Philly in the early 70's. I believe it is the same package re-sung. Anyhow I enjoy the jocks on there, they seem to be funny and entertaining at times that I catch them, does anyone know more about them? Do they work other stations as well? I'm thinking that they may have been part of the original or some incarnation of the original 1380 years, only because of the things I've heard them say before, like " I played that one when I was in the 1380 studio" or something like that. Murphy & Valentine sound like they were a morning team before somewhere else. Dave Bartley has a very familiar voice to me as I have stated he may be one of the 1380 day jocks I talked about as well as Dave Williams. I think they are good, I've heard topical humor from them and other goofy things that sound like the Boss Jock days. Does anyone know what their background is?

Am I missing something? WAMS, most recently broadcasting on 1260am, is no longer on the air following a sale earlier in the ear.

WAMS is the calls now used for the 1600 Dover station. The now dark 1260 is WNWK.

Has anyone heard 1600 in Dover recently? Last night there was great FM reception from the Delaware coastline and I heard a black gospel station on 104.3 that ID'ed as WXXY and listed about 5 different freq's with one of them being '1600 Dover Delaware'. The 104.3 station I
heard was possibly from Lewes DE or Ocean Pines MD. Did 1600 go back to Gospel again?

Yes, I heard the same thing. 1600am Dover is now being simulcasted with WXXY 88.7fm in The Atlantic City Area, as well as 104.3 in Lewes,105.1 Georgetown. I think I also heard a couple differant frequencies in Ocean Pines and Roxanna.

By the way, the calls of 1600 in Dover is WXXY. I guess they finally gave WAMS a decent burial.

it looks like 1600 has an application to drop one tower and go from 5000 to 3900 Watts day and from 1kw night to 110 watts night

Okay, so that will allow them to broaden their pattern? But with the hard time AM has getting into today's buildings and beating static, lowering power on AM is a bad idea.

The pattern won't be quit as tight.. the direction it beams in doesn't change, but it open up the pattern a bit by dropping 1 tower.
