WAMS on 104.3 and 105.1 in OC?

Anyone know if there's a reason for this double translator simulcast? It seems like 104.3 and 105.1 cover much of the same area. Is WAMS just a temporary placeholder on one of these stations?
 
Actually, the FCC rules do not allow an AM station to be on two FM translator covering the same area, but what the heck this operator never follows the rules anyway. Look at the Dover station, he sold the land that two of the towers were on and instead of just applying to go non-directional, he keeps a STA for the old facility which can not be rebuilt at that location. He's trying to do the same thing in Dover from the same sight, hopefully the FCC will start going after these operators. So real operators can move on and improve there facilities.

ka3kza...why are all your posts so bitter ??? Did your mom ever teach you that if you dont have anything nice to say....I guess your like a lot of folks who use to be in radio and are not now...BITTER :'(
 
Ka3kza get a life! You have no clue what is going on. If your not bashing Great Scott you are bashing someone else. The fact is 1600 in Dover filed for a CP with a 2 tower directional system. The current owner never sold the land it was sold by Joe Farley who owned both 1600 and 1380. We all know what happened to 1380, it went dark for many years. The current owner saved 1600 from the same fate. As for 1590 in Ocean City the FCC granted both FM translators to be used by the station and a CP was filed for 1590. Check the FCC web site before your open your big uneducated mouth.

I know of no such rule. As long as the coverage of each translator is limited to areas within the daytime coverage of the AM, you can have as many as you want.

An AM station about 60 miles southeast of here (Murfreesboro, Tennessee) has two FM translators on the same tower. Doesn't really make much sense (101.9's coverage is entirely contained within the coverage of 100.5) but it's legal.
