WAMW AM/FM Studio Building Damaged in Tornado

WAMW AM/FM is broadcasting from the trailer that serves as their transmitter site outside of Wheatland. The "Washington Radio Center" that serves as their studio had one wall severely damaged along with a number of other businesses in the area. Newscaster Dewayne Shake was in the studio at the time, but was not injured.

I'm told that when emergency broadcasts cease for the night, the stations will simulcast WFML/Vincennes (which has a separate studio in Vincennes) until regular programming can be restored.

Glad to hear Dewayne was okay. I've done my share of broadcasts during tornadic storms and have been lucky that none have come too close to the studio. However, the thought of what I'd do if the storms hit the studio has often crossed my mind. I can't say I've ever come up with a good answer!

Andy Morrison of WAMW AM/FM was also in the studio at the time of the tornado and captured this video as it blew through the west side of Washington. (via WAMW AM/FM's Facebook page)
