WAMZ/WHAS/WQMF - Ron and Mel gone from iHeartMedia

That was rather abrupt.... though honestly, I'd forgotten they were even around (I haven't listened to Mel since she was on WQMF, and I never listen to WAMZ or WHAS). Mel is versatile enough to pop back up almost anywhere though, I mean she has worked on stations that play classic rock (WQMF), new rock (WQNF), country (WAMZ), and even jazz (WJZO/WJZL) for a little while during Clear Channel's brief experiment with that.

I wonder if she'll end up at the place where it seems that every old Louisville radio talent (who doesn't leave the city) goes on to live forever... WAKY.

It looks like WAMZ changed their logo (which has been around for as long as I can remember) as well: https://www.facebook.com/975WAMZ/ph...65373059/10153230653098060/?type=1&permPage=1

I wonder what other changes they'll be making. It's not broken but they're fixing it anyway it seems...

I noticed the new logo as well. Not bad, but why change it. It's radio. Why not change QMF while you are at it. They changed 84 "840".

QMF has changed their slogan to "Louisville's home for Classic Rock" and dropped all 90s. Boring, boring radio in this town.

I'd really like to see both Bob and Tom and The Sixx Sense go as well. I know Bob and Tom was big at some point in time, but we're about 20 years removed from that point in time now. WQMF really has become some dull shell of a classic rock station that sounds just like every other iHeart classic rock station, and to be honest, even though I do listen to it occasionally during the eight hours of the day that aren't Bob and Tom or The Sixx Sense, I've sort of hit the point where I wouldn't really miss it if it were to suddenly disappear.

Yeah I would love to see Bob and Tom go myself. It's getting old. I haven't listened to QMF in awhile. Is it like QQ? I enjoy listening to them but for the mornings.

QMF hasn't completely eliminated 90's music. I thought they had earlier last week, then I heard some STP, Pearl Jam, Metallica, and 90's U2. So it isn't totally gone......yet. I agree QMF is boring.
I remember when Duke then Mel had the all request Diner. They did a great job. Now they still call it the Diner, but there is no difference in the songs they play compared to the other 23 hours per day. I used to make requests on the old diner, and Duke and Mel would almost always play it. They would play deep stuff like Tommy Bolin, INXS, Atlanta Rythym Session, Quarterflash.
The last year Mel did the diner it did get much more restrictive. I was told several times that they were good songs that QMF used to play but "no longer fit the playlist." Tony Vanetti does "The Diner" now and it is a joke. Do morons actually request "The Wall", "Turn the Page" or "Sweet Home Alabama"??

I agree with those who said that they would like to see Bob and Tom gone. 107.7 seems to be doing well with an actual live and local morning host. As for the 90s, I can't say for sure that it's gone or not, but I personally haven't heard any this week. Not a fan of the new female imaging voice either.

I've never listened to WAMZ (I avoid country music like the plague), but have they changed a lot since Coyote Calhoun left? I feel that he was probably a big piece in keeping WAMZ a distinctively Louisville station, and with him gone (and even Mel now), it seems like corporate may be seizing this opportunity to make WAMZ another generic "iHeart."
