Wanda Sykes Show

The Wanda Sykes Show has been on Fox for 5 weeks. Overall, I give it a thumbs up. Wanda tells good jokes and doesn't apologize for having a liberal bias. Being a Black Lesbian, her comedy includes stuff on race and sex. In her normal standup routine, she curses and does get 'bleeped' out a couple of times during the TV show.

Wanda does taped sketches. Most of which are funny, while all will make you smile. The show has started to do more sketches in the last 2 weeks.

The program starts off with Wanda doing a basic monologue. After the first commercial, she talks with her co-host Keith Robinson. This is where the show drags. Keith is funny but I think he tries too hard to get himself over. Next segment is Wanda-Rama where it is similar to her monologue. She goes over particular topics more in depth.

The last segments is Wanda's Bar where she has three diverse guest sitting at a bar drinking alcohol (Ed Begley Jr. drank water!) and have a round-table discussion. During the last segment there is a game where Portia, a drag-queen who helps with show, asks the bar mates a question that Wanda, as the host, can't ask. I like this part but Portia might get in 2 questions before it's over.

I think The Wanda Sykes show is a diversion from, but not necessarily better than, Saturday Night Live.

Like to hear about anyone feelings about The Wanda Sykes Show.

Thumbs up for me too. The show updates the talk show format a bit, but more importantly, she follows the first rule of being an engaging host: have something to say! Compared to Leno, who's a (bad) joke machine IMO and George Lopez who seems to talk for the sake of talking, there's content there that engages the guests. The skits are good...it was easy for me to watch as I've been over SNL for sometime now.

I've seen 2 or 3 Wanda shows so far. I completely forgot to watch last night. :'(

Generally, I find it to be an entertaining show although, as brian mentioned, Keith kinda makes the show drag. The show airs 11pm-midnight in my area (Boston market), and maybe everywhere else for that matter. I'd been trying to start watching it on a regular basis especially if I know that Saturday Night Live is being hosted by someone I don't care about.

Started watching it last night. Got bored after the monologue and changed channels. I wish her no ill.

At least Sykes is funnier than George Lopez's late night talk show.

Ah, the damnation of faint praise. ::)

I'll have to second the 'faint praise, and I'm a fan of Wanda's. Her recent stand-up show on HBO had me crying, I was laughing so hard. She's always great as a co-star, including ...Christine, and playing herself on Curb Your Entusiasm. But her new Saturday show just didn't do it for me - there was nothing compelling about it.

Good show, but not my cup of soda. (I know it's supposed to be cup of tea, but I hate tea and only choke down a cold 20 oz NESTEA or LIPTON if I have a sore throat).

Just add wasabi. ;D
