WANN 32 / WTBS 26 QUESTION FOR TRIPINVA

Trip I am getting a much better signal on the new WTBS 26 than WANN 32. They both
show the same programs and I can easily tell the difference.

Is this because 26 is transmitting from the top of one of the tallest buildings in the U.S.?
I believe 32 is on the Antenna farm behind TV 46 and should be at a much lower height.
I'm actually closer to the antenna farm which is probably about two air miles from the
Nations Bank building downtown.

Also, if 26 does have a better signal I would think it would become the primary station
eventually and 32 would do it's own thing.

WTBS-LD and WANN-LD are coming off of the exact same structure as WPCH, WUVG, WATL, and WGCL. http://www.rabbitears.info/oddsandends.php?request=tower&asrn=1223132

WTBS-LD is ever so slightly more powerful than WANN-LD, but well within the margin of error. Any difference you're seeing is either due to a difference in the SNR of the signals as transmitted or due to local reception conditions at your receiving location. Changing the aim or positioning of your antenna will likely find you one or more positions where WANN-LD is stronger than WTBS-LD.

I suspect that they rushed to get it on the air before the permit expired. As a result, they probably aren't ready to put unique programming on it yet, thus the current simulcast. I'm sure they're working on it.

Wikipedia shows them transmitting off different locations. It shows the WTBS transmitter
as not being on the building I though, but one about 1/2 mile closer to downtown?????

Not sure where you're seeing that. The WTBS-LP listing shows a set of coordinates for the analog, and a different set of coordinates for the digital which is the same as the coordinates listed for WANN-LD.

Rumor posted on another forum indicate that "Great American Country Music TV (GAC),Untamed Sports,a LifeStlye Ch. and poss. Ant TV" could be coming to WTBS-LD. Since GAC is not an OTA station, I will assume the poster meant "TCN" (The Country Network) and the lifestyle channel could be LiveWell Network. I would wonder if they're considering The Cool TV as well.

We'll have to wait and see. I can't see Antenna TV going with a LOW POWER with
little chance of getting cable coverage..............unless just to send a snub to the
bigger stations for not taking them.

But I could see RTV moving to WTBS-LP and Antenna going to WSB.
