Yeah because this will really work!

/SARCASM OFF

exaclty ::)

Is there a provision to bring JD back only and keep russ 100 yards from the mic at all times?

Everyone has being asking since when has petitions ever worked.

Ever heard of the show Jericho? CBS story about a little town cut off from the rest of the world because of Nuclear attacks.

Ever heard of Firefly?

How about the original Star Trek series?

Petitions work, Not every time but they do work.

From watching this forum I doubt Russ would ever be back on radio.

The petition (and peanut campaign) that revived Jericho lasted a whole 7 episodes before the show was again cancelled. If the people want Russ back, the ratings have to come with. Nobody's going to pay him near 7 figures to be 6th in his demo.

Why would he come back? He's going to be paid his full contract until 2011. Means he can't work anywhere as long as CBS keeps paying him.

Move on people, nothing to see here.

Hope the mod's will allow me to repost this comment from the petition site. Kinda scares me to think that this might really represent a cross-section of the listeners. All of this is verbatim, precious misspells and all:

THIS IS POSSIBLY THE WORST MOVE FOR THE STATION BOTH IN CHARACTER AND FINANCIALLY. LIVE 105.3 "THE ******" WILL PAY DEARLY IN THE END. rUSS NEEDS TO GET BACK ON THE AIR ASAP, STATIONS HAVE GOTTA BE BEGGGING FOR HIM.REGARDLESS GAVIN IS OBVIOUSLY GAY AND BEN & SKIN LACK TALENT PERIOD. I OWULD RATHER LISTEN TO JAGGER, BUT AT THIS MOMENT I AM CURRENTLY BOYCOTTING 105.3 AS I AM SURE MANY, MANY ARE.

(So, one obvious question comes to mind: It's a bad thing for Gavin to be gay, but it IS ok to listen to Jagger, who is known publicly to be gay?) ;D

Just cause we only got seven episodes that "revived" the series doesn't mean a petition (and a grassroots campaign) doesn't work.

Also Russ may have a couple things that Jericho didn't.

1) Updated ratings system
2) Russ's show isn't a serialized series
3) Russ had actually gotten some respect from the company he worked, as opposed to Jericho that was treated like a red-headed step child.
4) People in this market KNOW WHO HE IS! Jericho had to wait about a year (and endure a writer's strike) and lost people because no one really knew when it was on.

and you think those are GOOD things?
1. In the updated ratings system, Russ's show was a distant 6th in his probable target demo, Men 25-54.
2. Russ's show isn't a series, but it's also a show that isn't about anything except Russ. Which is fine if you find Russ interesting, not so good if you don't. At least with sports, they can take it to advertisers and explain that they're a sports station, and they're going to talk sports.
3. Getting fired is respect?
4. But do the people who count care who he is? At this point, the station managers can ask themselves 'would this guy help us, does he fit our format, and do I want to put up with the crap that is Russ's baggage?

Adding to Little1's list:

5. Will Russ even be available to work if he's convicted on the assault charges?

With all the bad press he's earned, and considering he's out of work, I don't think he'll get a light sentence if he's convicted.

No one else in this market will hire Russ. He costs too much money, and gets into too much legal trouble. The best Russ fans can hope for now, is that Russ goes to sat radio. I doubt even that will happen.

not for nothing - but in the glorious age of the internet - I can find an embarrassing fan for just about any form of entertainment you can imagine. Including AM radio and the likes.

SO while it serves your purpose here to take a broad swipe at the listeners of the station and the shows, it's more or less very condescending on your part. I find it very ironic that posts get moved to the TIO section when people argue but posts like this are allowed to stay. I guess it's OK to insult people if you do it en-mass and back backhandedly.

People are waving this karma flag as some sort of justification for being happy that a show was canceled and a station flipped and a few hosts you disliked are now without a job. Karma goes both ways.
